How do you feel about Alex McLeish being the next manager?

He's resigned from the noses, doesn't mean to say he's coming to Villa, if you think about it and read the Generals reply to this manager thing, then he goes to great lengths to point out that the one reason it takes time is because they need to find someone that will have unity with the players, staff the board and fans.

Thats just about untickes every box Mcleish as any hope of ticking.

Having just heard the report on Sky Sports, I'm pretty sure I heard the guy say that McCleish would love the Villa job. I'm sure he would! Is this the only evidence to suggest he will come to the Villa? The fact that McCleish would like to manage Villa.

They (the board) have done so much good work in the last five years and I can't see them jeopardizing all that with such an unpopular appointment.   If they did go that route I couldn't defend them.

I hope it's merely coincidence or -even better-  McLeish is on his way to Everton = Moyes to us.

Putting aside he managed Blues, a year ago I could have made a case. Finished second in the SPL with Motherwell and Hibs, won things with Rangers when Celtic had more money to spend and had Scotland challenging for qualification instead of being out of the running after a few games. I could defend the first relegation with Blues, credit him with bouncing straight back and definately credit him with the top ten finish. But he kept his best players, spent big money on Foster and Zigic and got them relegated. I would not appoint a manager who has been relegated in two out of three seasons in the PL whoever he was and whoever he came from.

If Lerner appoints McLeish, it would be the most misguided appointment that I can recall, anywhere.  It shouldn't and must not happen.

SSN understands that Gervilla from H & V would also like the Villa job. Sources close to Gervilla  went on to add that at 36 , his dream of playing for Villa will probably not materialize so the managers job would have to do.

Even if he wasn't tainted by association with that lot, two relegations in three years is a pretty emphatic display of failure that can't merely be glossed over. Particularly the most recent one when they had a better squad than half of the sides in and around them in the drop zone.

He could well have the makings of a decent Prem manager - in time. Redknapp has encountered a few relegations in his time so I certainly wouldn't write Big Eck off. But he shouldn't be remotely in the running for the Villa gig at this point in time. Let him rebuild his reputation elsewhere.

Maybe Randy has restricted his search for a manager with experience in the Premier League and the Championship.
