The only reason we're even entertaining the possibility is the bad timing - we've been in a void without a clear favourite since the Martinez thing blew over, now a manager with Premier League experience quits and the media is delighted to have someone to speculate on again.

There is zero reason we'd hire McLeish. A failure in the Premier League with way too much baggage to ever be a success here.

Lerner and Faulkner are keeping very quiet, rightly so, but it leaves us to contemplate all sorts of horrors from the lack of information. I even fear we'll have to suffer a spell of Steve Bruce as favourite before this ends!

It's like running a small Hardware shop on the Coventry road and taking it in to receivership and then getting installed as the New CEO of B and Q. I hope this is an elaborate wind up and somebody else comes in. I wasn't much in to having Mark Hughes in but I'd personally pick him up and drive him to B6 now.

I'd be gutted if we appointed 'oo heck' but then; I'd be pretty disappointed if ten of the main twelve contenders were appointed.

Randy wont do this though - he's got an ace up his sleeve!

Trying to see positives...

he did well with Hibs
he did well with Rangers
he did well with Scotland

The first time he got relegated witn Blues he took over halfway through the season so I wouldn't hold that against him, likewise I wouldn't give him credit for getting them back up.

Deserves credit for finishing top half and winning their first trophy in 3,000 years.

Got them relegated again... I would say this is the one major blot on his CV.

His style of football isn't great (nowhere near as bad as Pulis or Allardyce though). However, Taylor had a reputation for hoofball when he arrived at Villa Park and changed his style. Maybe McLeish could do the same.

He would be far from my first choice but if he is appointed I hope supporters give him a chance. The one thing guaranteed to make him fail is protest banners and booing before and after each game.

Intelligent man, done well in scotland, over defensive tactics, media friendly, no plan B, moans about squad size, good cup runs.......I cant quite put my finger on why I dont fancy this one. (Have we been there before?)

Perhaps 2 relegations 3 seasons may go against him.

Not to mention the bleedin obvious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If RL appoints that scottish ginger alcoholic no good  C**T at villa that will the last time id be going down there, and villa will be refunding me and families season tickets,
