McLeish first interview
The club
"When the biggest club in Birmingham Aston Villa enquire about you, I couldn't help but jump at the opportunity"
On Players
"I'm used to getting 2nd hand goods (Gardner and Ridgewell)"
On signings
"I think we've already lodged bids for a GK (Foster) and CB (Dann)"
Training Facilities
"I'm really impresses with the facilities here it will be completely different to working with modern world class facilities as appose to a prehistoric training complex"
Why he took the job
"The only reason i took the previous job was to be settled in the area before this one came available, I always believed my previous club would be a stepping stone for much greater things. and now the day has come"

McClaren's broken english interview was ridiculous.

So it wasn;t just me that thought he was still speaking with a faux-Dutch accent, then?! Very strange. And although I know it's daft to make this sort of judgement, but he comes across as pretty bloody arrogant to me. Not that it probably matters.

He's had all sorts of 'media training'. What a waste of money.

Almost five years on from the heady days of MON's appointment did anybody really envisage this?

Trouncing the heathens 5-1 in 2008. Beating Ajax a few months later. Being in the top 4 for most of 2008/09.  All seems a long, long time ago now.

Welcome Alex!  :-[

No agreed. But I also did not envisage the general football landscape to have changed as much as it has also.

I don't want the guy to fail. I just don't want him to have the opportunity.

To be fair, tool that he is, i didn't detect a mock Dutch accent this time. He was talking clearly and trying to avoid slang, but that could be habit from talking to foreign media for a few years. I thought he came across ok in his interview. Still glad we didn't get him though, although it's a close one between him and McLeish for me on which would be the shittest.

Cheer the fuck up sourpusses!

"I was looking for a job and then I found a job"

Not even Morissey could fit -

"I was unhappy in my job and then I was tapped up by an American with dubious managerial selection criteria"

into a verse could he?

It'll be difficult for me to see him as anything other than a stop gap manager.

Not exactly reliable, but ssn reporting it to be in the next hour. Miserable words from the beautiful Georgie. I just want it over with now.
