If he is signed tomorrow then can we assume he was tapped up and the interview today was a sham.

With the current team I can't see him doing that great, he'll have to spend a fair bit.

Get N'Zogbia, Johnson and Foster in and lets see what he can do.

We have good attacking players, why would he make us play negative football?

He will be appointed by the looks of it and the fans now have to get behind him and hope there is some smart action in the transfer market carrying some momentum into the new season. For what its worth, I think McLeish is a top bloke and no fool. But I have little confidence in his record in this division.
But the relationship between this board and the fans is gone now. Perhaps beyond repair. The General wont be back after the abuse he's had and I wouldnt blame him and so we'll have no connection at all.

A really sorry state of affairs.

This is pretty much how I feel. To be fair to McLeish he must have a large set of gonads if he is taking the Villa job on, because as soon as things start to go wrong the knives will be out for him. Short of somehow winning every single game I can't see him lasting the course, but people probably need to try and give him a chance and see what happens.

Yep, he is a top bloke, nothing against him at all, but he's just not the manager we wanted....we wanted so much more, and could have made a real statement of intent. But frankly, getting a man who has just been relegated????

I think it's a barking mad decision but if it's done it's done.

The Board and McLeish will now have a few weeks to demonstrate what the immediate future of the club holds and until that period elapses and we see some new faces, everything apart from track record is speculation. Things change, people improve and I really hope McLeish demonstrates he has developed his skills and that it was simply the Birmingham Board holding him back. I won't be doing any more bitching until we see either way (ok, I'll try not to). As with all new managers I am really keen to see hoiw he brings the youth through, not because it is a cheap option, but because some of them might just be good enough. Might be pleasantly surprised eh?

this riijkard sighting has been confirmed , to where i wonder ?
It wasn't Frank Rijkaard. It was Benjamin Zephaniah coming back off his holidays.

Now there is a class act!!! How good would that be Benjamin Zephaniah as our manager

Mcleish said to jim White he understands the protests but is looking forward to the challenge - good luck to him , it can't be easy going somewhere when many are against you - give him a chance!

Sky breaking news Alex mcleish to be new Aston villa manager.
Jim White by phone saying mcleish and Lerner very happy and mcleish aware of protest but very much looking forward to the challenge .

Solicitors meeting in the morning so should be sealed then.

If that is the case, I will not be watching Villa next season unless we start to play some attractive football.  I do not believe he has it in him.

If the leopard changes his spots, I will be very pleased and admit I was wrong.

At this point in time I feel totally let down by Randy Lerner.  I may have complained about Doug over the years but I have never felt this way in the 34 years I have been following Villa.

They will have to make some early statements of intent because this is a first for anew manager coming in without any sort of feel good factor at all.

They have to be concerned about the immediate impact on season ticket sales.

Not only that, but the whole messy divorce has been played out in a very public nature, under the grateful gaze of a media who love such stories in close season. Sorry to say it, but everyone has played a part; the media and the Villa fans are also culpable, but not as much as the Board.

My take on it is that Mcleish had been promised the job before he resigned, it all falls into place. The Generals early defence, the speed in which it has been done, no manouvre room even when seeing the demonstrations because the job had been promised, and a likely court battle if we did back out. We tapped him up ( which is hilarious in itself) pure and simple so all the high morals that have been talked about is pure bollocks.
I wonder if Mcleish has thought about his family in alll this, would you take your family into this kind of situation?
