I would have felt exactly the same about him in Sept. And so would thousands of other Villa fans. He was shit then, but even more so now after getting the Blose relegated AGAIN!
I'll carry on supporting my team, not the manager. We all saw what O'Leary and McNeill did to our team/club. This looks to be going the same way only even before the new man's through the door. It's a non-sensical appointment and anyone who knows anythin about football, including noses, think it's a f***in stupid move by RL
It is only a game FFS. Rangers supporters did not want him in charge and he won them over by delivering success. I could understand if SHA were relegated with many games remaining, but it was right at the death.

As I have said previously; he has equalled MON's greatest achievements in management and will do a similar, if not better, job than MON. If he becomes our manager get behind the club.
Wish I had your optimism Iago!
I ain't the sort to not buy my ST or threaten to send it back. I've got it and I won't miss a game next season. Like a lot of the posters on here it just seems that we are making it hard for ourselves before we've started!
I truly hope you're right!

In these dark times the entertainment has been tremendous, from the classic "early warning" tactic of spray painting slogans on walls to the massed ranks of the disaffected on the Holte steps. From the "banishment to Kilmarnock" to the Great Storming of the Gates to Villa Village and from the scaling of the perimeter to Mr Whippy pitching up for badly needed trade in a typical English summer.

Marvellous fun, and probably the most entertaining sight to be seen at Villa Park for some considerable time if this appointment gets the green light.
Quality post Nev!

I can tell you opposition teams will not fancy playing against a McCleish side; and he will have a much bigger budget to assemble a better side than previous.

He'll just have eleven expensive players behind the ball rather than cheap ones.

This makes no sense and I still dont think it will happen.

Thing is McLeish can never work out unless he has 100% success immediately. He needs to win us all over straight away and anything other than a better than expected start will do. Never mind a bad run of games, a bad game, or a bad half, a bad 5-10 minutes will have the crowd turning on him.

We need a manager who can settle in and be given time. Does McLeish fit that bill? It is completely missing the point for the board to attempt to overlook the fact that he was manager of Small Heath. The fact is, plain and simple, that is exactly how he'll be seen unless success is instant. If success is to be instant we need to be spending lots of millions on lots of players and I presume if that were the budget on offer better managers would be falling over themselves to be at Villa Park.

They board really don't get it, do they? That is what I find truly worrying.

Fair enough, he was nobody's first choice if we are being honest. I genuinely do not think he is "shit" though, and he will IMO prove a lot of our fans wrong.

Just catching up with all this, I take it we aren't quite down the pan yet...

Looks like a few of the Villa boards have gone of the air.

All them so called fans are dickheads.

Should be fucking shot the lot of them.

It's this kind of woolly-minded liberal thinking that's ruining this country.

Dont like it mate you know where to go.

Clearly  no where near your shooting range!

That is amusing because was GH not criticised about the defense?

I can't get angry. McLeish is a steady and dull appointment after the mistake that was Houllier, that's the biggest criticism I can find - I'm more concerned he'll have little to work with. If they start playing Mr Blue Sky over the tannoy, invite Jasper Carrot to games or ask the buggers to move in to share our stadium, then I'll lose it.

Winning silverware with that shower was more than we've managed in 15 years. We shouldn't get above ourselves. Even Martinez didn't want to come to us.

Ive just started to shave my testicles. I know its nothing to do with the managemefnt situation, but I think its a valid point worth sharing.

Did you take a nick out of them when you inserted that erroneous 'f'?
