Guardian's take on us at the moment.

Thats a very good take on the mess we find ourselves in!
Hogwash. The media are printing rubbish about us because they know nothing at all. The ambition is still the same IMO.

Champions League?  You're having a laugh.
I still believe they will back AM greatly to achieve success. Champions League is the dream and I believe we have a chance.
Nice to read such optimism I must say

Well 20 or so people have turned up so the joke is on them!

Listen I don't se the point in protesting but don't be so bloody arrogant that you are any better than those guys who feel compelled to go and make a point. Whether there is 20 or 20000 at Villa Park, they are just showing their passion for the club and I won't have people sneering at them for doing so.

IF he is appointed, of course they'll back him, but....he has a crap record, he's from THEM and this sends a strong signal out to the world that AV have NO ambition....it strikes me as the early signs of a cost-cutting exercise.

I liked this line from it - "...and cannot expect too much more from grizzled veterans such as Richard Dunne and Emile Heskey". Been looking for an apt description of our hapless twosome all season and finally found it.

It won't be cutting any costs at all if we have to pay SHA £5million for his services.

Let others have their perceptions of our club, it will be sweeter when we prove them wrong.

I support Aston Villa; I do not care what anybody else says about my club.

That's fair enough, but 'having the bottle' sounded odd.

Henry Cecil, you'll probably be reading this... remind me how many Blues fans there were that turned up against Rochdale... what was it, 4,000 knuckle draggers with 2,000 Rochdale fans?

I don't think you're in any position to laugh at the turnout of the protest, but you keep being a little hypocrite.

You have to be optimistic or there is no point in "supporting" a football club such as ours.

I am now entering a state of Bliss - I have pierced the veil of hate and disbelief percieving it for the illusion it is;
If McLeish had not been Blues manager would we be acting like this? We might be disapointed Ancelloti is not coming but it would not have.

I also remember his comments about the differing ambitions of the two clubs after the 5-1 - rather perceptive of him I thought.

The Rangers thing - meh! We had an ex-Celtic manager and look what comments their fans get on here.

Let us rage and storm now and then roar our Lions on when the season re-commences.

I look forward to the Cup draws with keen anticipation

WW

Concur.

Lets just get it finalised and sorted, and preparations for the new season started. If players are going to walk, best it is done now rather than later.

Also looked at his record. Strip out last season iot is not too bad. The only previous relegations have been when he has not had a full season, and has then bounced back. Worked with foreign players, and been in knock-out stages of the Champions League. Also has a record of taking unfashionable clubs to relatively high places in their respective leagues.

Could argue he has a better record than Moyes when comparing resources.

Might turn out OK, and as Witton Warrior says, if it had not been for the Blues connection, he would probably have received more backing.

Like so many of us posting on here, I just feel so bloody helpless about the whole thing. I'm still praying that IT won't happen but have a horrible feeling it will. IMO its damaging for the club we all love. Whoever is boss I'm sure we'll back him, it's just that this one is gonna be so hard to accept and get behind 110% as the General says Randy will. (and Ron Saunders used to, remember?)
