he's got a point though. It does make you wonder if the board understand how an English football fan's brain works.  I'd say we were in 3 camps at the moment.

1. those who don't want him because he's from blose and will never accept him.
2. Those who don't want him because they think he's shit but realise those who think 1) will probably do for him anyway.
3. Those who think he's ok but realise those who think 1) will probably do for him anyway.

I'm in 2), i sympathise with those in 3) even if i think they're a bit delusional but i think 1) will get their way.

Watch him try and get Roman Pavlyuchenko

he did try and get him down at the shit. I'll tell you what, playing behind Bent I think he'd be brilliant.

Because they formed such a lethal partnership at Spurs?!

Quote
Gus Poyet fears that Tottenham's two main strikers are too similar to form an effective partnership.

Spurs assistant manager's remarks came as Jermaine Jenas revealed Juande Ramos was starting to feel the strain of being bottom of the League after the 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth.

Ramos was mocked by the Spurs fans when he replaced lone striker Roman Pavlyuchenko with Darren Bent, instead of putting them together for the final 17 minutes, and Poyet believes the pair are incompatible.

He said: 'For the one-and-a-half games that they [Pavlyuchenko and Bent] played together, it did not work for us. They are the same type of player, so it is difficult for them to play together.'

you're right, they gave it a real shot.

I see Oliver Holt is sticking the knife in over at the Mirror. Villa don't exactly present a difficult target right now.

we could have appointed Mourinho and he'd write an article where he'd slide in a dig about us, and especially for not backing MON.

They were at the same club for a whole season - that quote is from a month in. Redknapp came in and decided the same thing about Bent & Pavlyuchenko, selling Bent at the end of the season.

I think it's reasonable to assume that if two £10m+ strikers are at a club for a year and two different managers both avoid playing them together, there is a reason for that..

I know when the quote is from. What it tells you very early on that they didn't want to give them a proper chance to play together. Both wanted to leave by the end of the season, and you have to wonder why they bothered with signing either in the first place? Had they allowed the partnership to develop it might have worked out.

why the hell we'd want pavlechenko when we've got bent is beyond me. we'd want someone who can compliment him, not another out and out striker. not to mention the other 4 or 5 postions that need strengthening currently. And having a actual bloody 'keeper would be nice.

crikey greg, relax, we're just talking here. He reminds me a bit of Sheringham. A player that can pick the ball up deep and do things with it. Bent isn't going to do that for you, and he's better off playing on his own up front with players supporting him.

I think the club is well aware that a goalkeeper will be top of the shopping list. Foster would be a veru good start.
