Tommy boy too many people seem to be in denial- let's get it done and dusted and start bringing in some new players and then concentrate on the team and not the manager.

One other point I'd make is that mcleish has his own back room team and they would probably need compensating as well as our backroom staff may need paying off so it could be a costly exercise all round.

I've no idea if Mcliesh is a goer but as a lot of people have said, my objection to him is more to do with his football, his record and the ambition that shows by the club. However if RL thinks he'll be given a chance by sections of our support once the furore over his blose connections dies down then i think he's sadly mistaken and shows a complete lack of knowledge about football rivalries. He just will not be accepted by some people and the first crap result will bring the knives out in force - a bad run and all hell will break loose. Basically a car crash waiting to happen.

In denial, or just with a different opinion to you?

Surely if we didnt interview mclaren because of fans disapproval then mcleish won't get anywhere near. And t those who say he wouldnt be a bad appointment, he's been relegated twice in four years, a track record like that shouldn't be anywhere near Aston villa

Put it this way, would McLeish take the Celtic job?  Exactly.  So why on earth does he think this would be different?  As Greg says, a car crash waiting to happen.

The point is, who actually have we interviewed, who actually have we been in contact with, believe me I am not saying this in a sarcastic or condescending way, I would seriously like to know.

Take your point Greg but spurs fans said similar when George Graham went there- I don't remember them complaining though when he won a cup for them.

Think mo Johnston, kenny miller , both much worse cases but they won over the fans and if big eck gets results he will be accepted.

Lerner and Krulak reckon they're in touch with our heritage and history, if they sign McLeish they obviously are not, if they dont then maybe they are

If randy let's fans dictate to him who should and shouldn't be manager then he is a weak leader - he must choose who he and his advisers decide is the best man and back himself to make the right choice.

Look if it was morinhio possibly coming from blose i'd take your point and Graham's record at Arsenal at least forced the spurs fans to take him seriously but he was never "loved" and i remember there was at least one Graham out website. Players is a different matter - most fans don't care as long as they're peforming on the pitch. The bottom line is even if he had the sort of record that suggests he could be successful i think he'd struggle. As it is I don't think he'll get the time - Houllier got till christmas before half the fanbase wanted him out and while there was plenty of people unhappy or bemused by his appointment he had a lot more goodwill than Mcliesh will get.

Ask a Spurs fan what they think of George Graham.  I think you'll be surprised if you think they'll talk fondly of him, cup or no cup.

Another good point, AM will need to hit the ground running from day 1, if he falls short slighlty he'll get lynched, just not worth it.
