If anyone other than McLeish is unveiled as the next Villa manager in the next few days they may well experience an unprecedented amount of goodwill. In the circumstances right now Simon Grayson would probably get a better reception than the second coming of King Kenny to Anfield.

You could have a point there. RL could keep McLeish dangling over our heads for a few days and then appoint Hughes. We'd be so grateful

Mind you, wouldn't be surprised if McLeish ends up at Everton....

I would be.  McLeish should not a premier league manager.  He's more likely to end up at Cardiff.

What a shambles at Villa. A total and utter disgrace. Lerner and Faulkner should hang their heads in shame.

Hard to disagree. They're way out of their depth.

I'm fucking sick of this saga.  The media have portrayed us as a Geordie Nation circus over the past fortnight.

If it is true that Randy overlooked Hughes after he walked out on Fulham, then why would he view the McLeish resignation any differently?

This is obviously the biggest flaw in the decision (or lack of) re Hughes.  If there is an ounce of truth in the claims that RL went all Gentleman Squire on the issue once Fulham had bailed on Fulham, he would need to remain consistent on this one too.

I suspected at the time that excuse was bollocks though, the media filing in the gaps and plenty of mug punters believing it with little to back it up. I hope this goes the same way.

i hope once this is over that the new manager brings stability and stays a few years as i really  wouldnt want to go through another managerial saga for a long time- its stressful for us never mind randy and the board.

An utter disgrace for not giving that bastion of moral virtue and rectitude The Daily Mail a scoop. Hang them is too fucking good.

So we are a shambles because McCleish has resigned and we haven't appointed a new manager a few weeks after our old one was ruled out due to health issues...interesting take on it.

Chelsea appointed anyone yet by the way?

So who is it gonna be then? All this nonsense from Randy and Faulkner is making us look like a joke. I know that's not their intention and we should ignore the media, but it's the fact that potential candidates in the running may decide to reject the job after seeing how poorly run this club truly is.

The board are way out of their depth when it comes to the football world.

He played for Manchester United? He's Welsh?

I think 'mysteryman' is as in the know as everybody where the new manager is concerned.

Why would Everton want him???

Because they have a vacancy to fill???
