we put faith in randy last summer and that didnt exactly turn out well- i really wonder what qualification and knowledge of the game thst faulkner has if he is doing the interviews?

reminds me of cloughie saying how the people interviewing him 'didnt have a bloody clue about football'.
I like to think he's taking advice from someone/somewhere who knows the business. I still maintain the GH appointment was too hasty and more time should have been taken then. If it had we might not be in this awkward fix now.
We've gotta keep the faith eastie. We've got no choice mate!

I have always kept the hope that Randy Lerner is doing the best for the club, and still believe that - therefore, I still fully expect a manager that I will punch the air and say "yes !" will still be appointed, no matter if it is tomorrow, or August 5th.

However, if on the off chance we do appoint some of the names being mentioned now - it will prove a point there is only one way the club is going.

Sorry, I just never saw it coming. In 2006 - when we were bought by the 2nd richest owner in the Premier League did I ever think that 5 yrs on, we would be talking about the likes of Kevin Keegan, Simon Grayson , Steve McLaren and all becoming our next manager.

Surely, if it is - the next thread to be opened would have to be titled "Where did it all go wrong".

And thats why I am chilled about it - coz these people ain't gonna be appointed.

You remind me of a chap who used to frequent VillaTalk

Yep - just sent you a mail.

I'm yet to see any comment from the club saying we have been rejected by anyone. I'm also yet to see any comment from all the managers who have supposedly said no.

To those that know it all, please explain to this old fool why you believe anyone has turned us down thus far, if no-one anywhere has come out and said so?

I agree that it isn't easy to seperate noise and signal from the reports in papers, Twitter etc. but one has to try and find a way. That's why I said that "seemingly we don't have the pulling/spending power to get the likes of Ancelotti, Benitez or Moyes". Ancelotti has said publicly that he wants a year off; Benitez has reportedly asked for more money (to spend on players) than the board wants to give (this is, more or less, confirmed by a poster on here that is close to one of the board members); Moyes has publicly said that he isn't interested in the job.

But there is still nothing from any of them to confirm we have asked and they have rejected us - do you not find that odd in these days of reporters on door steps looking for soundbites?

No, because there is nothing to be gained by doing this. Benitez might still be interested and hoping that we Randy returns to his door with a huge transfer kitty. And Moyes might use our interest as leverage when negotiating his transfer budget at Everton. If they rejects us publically, it's definite.

It's Egil Olsen. Close the thread.

I see some wag has been on Wikipedia and put him down as new Aston Villa manager.

'Some wag'? I think you'll find the perpetrator was highly amusing, intelligent and rather handsome too.
I had nothing to do with it.

Just been having lunch with Pelty, MysteryMan and Mat Kendrick. They tell me Egil Olsen is as good as a done deal.

I also understand from internet sources that Nigel Pearson will be Olsen's assistant.

ITKVILLAITK just tweeted that he understands we have given a two year contract to Egil Olsen. Martin Laursen will be a coach. 100% gospel.

Almost as left field as Houllier.

Not any more. Olsen has been after his job since April. Houllier is going to be fucking livid.
