I suppose they are still waiting for all the letters to be delivered, asking for permission to talk with their managers!

I'm yet to see any comment from the club saying we have been rejected by anyone. I'm also yet to see any comment from all the managers who have supposedly said no.

To those that know it all, please explain to this old fool why you believe anyone has turned us down thus far, if no-one anywhere has come out and said so?

I agree that it isn't easy to seperate noise and signal from the reports in papers, Twitter etc. but one has to try and find a way. That's why I said that "seemingly we don't have the pulling/spending power to get the likes of Ancelotti, Benitez or Moyes". Ancelotti has said publicly that he wants a year off; Benitez has reportedly asked for more money (to spend on players) than the board wants to give (this is, more or less, confirmed by a poster on here that is close to one of the board members); Moyes has publicly said that he isn't interested in the job.

I have always kept the hope that Randy Lerner is doing the best for the club, and still believe that - therefore, I still fully expect a manager that I will punch the air and say "yes !" will still be appointed, no matter if it is tomorrow, or August 5th.

However, if on the off chance we do appoint some of the names being mentioned now - it will prove a point there is only one way the club is going.

Sorry, I just never saw it coming. In 2006 - when we were bought by the 2nd richest owner in the Premier League did I ever think that 5 yrs on, we would be talking about the likes of Kevin Keegan, Simon Grayson , Steve McLaren and all becoming our next manager.

Surely, if it is - the next thread to be opened would have to be titled "Where did it all go wrong".

And thats why I am chilled about it - coz these people ain't gonna be appointed.

Come, come, we're a forward thinking club. Only the other day, the board were discussing this new fangled invention by the foreigner Marconi and have sent him a letter requesting more information.

Dreadful assessment if true.. Looks like Hughes then, or is it Mcleish?
I don't know but I do see our once great club is being brought into disrepute and I do not like that.
Make the decision Randy. Tell us you have had it sorted for some time now!
Otherwise we are treading water again with the also rans. Time is getting on and we are in at the deep end.
Reassure us that we are waving not drowning.

Sorry if I'm a bit late with this one folks but just listened to the interview with Martinez about staying with Wigan. He states that its flattering to be linked with clubs with a great tradition but he hasn't been approached by anyone and implied he'd already decided to stay at Wigan anyway. Our club is not mentioned by him or the interviewer (Murphy?).
So you're bang on Neil: no one (certainly Martinez) has rejected us. It's just paper talk creating a crisis where there isn't one. I think we need to put faith in RL to make a good appointment. If that means him being "nice" about, then so be it!

Indeed, if Randy used Royal Mail to send his letter to Wigan, the chances are he posted it before MON walked. This demonstrates astonishing prescience from the Villa supremo.

Moyes is joining us on monday... according to a facebook friend. I know we've heard it all before but this guy is really vehement about it like no one i've seen so far. Won't take no or maybe for an answer.

Bilic - yes
Ranieri - no
Grayson - no

I still think it'll be Moyes.

How does he know then? Maybe all the rumours on twitter that everyone seems to be betting on?

Incidently Moyes is now 10-1 on betfaie whereas Grayson and Mcleish are shorter. Haha wtf this is crazy BS.
