It would be ironic if Bruce took over here after telling everyone how much he loves Sunderland. He couldn't, could he? It also shows how bad the situation is that we've now reached the point of talking about Steve Bruce.

Looking for a positive point on this one...Nigel Spink returns home.

How old is he ? - he can't be that much older than Fredial - might save us a bob or two

There are good reasons why Bruce won't be our manager and even better reasons wht McCleash won't be our manager, it's all getting very silly now.

Bruce? McLeish?.

McGrath almighty, the media really don't have a flippin clue about our Club if they think that those two might be in the frame.

Proof enough right there that to write about football, you clearly don't need to know anything about football clubs.

I think the scent's getting fainter and noone's got a clue. Don't believe the moyes stories. I'm going to get a life and take the rest of the weekend off of Villa speculation.  I think my girlfriend's beginning to understand what a football nerd I am and the wedding will be off if I'm not careful!

do people think that the club has not yet appointed manager as they want as much press time as possiblebecause we need a new shirt sponsor. so by keeping club name in press thinking get high price for shirt sponsorship

Either way, they better hurry up. Time is marching on, clubs are buying players and making plans and we are stuck in this limbo. The longer it goes on the more damaging it is, and its not like we're Chelsea who can afford to wait weeks with their squad and resources. We currently haven't got a 'keeper and all areas of the squad are looking a bit threadbare to say the least. Lerner decided to jettison our last manager and the plans he had in place, so he better sort it out and quick.

I don't think so, I'm more leaning towards the idea that they want the Ashley young deal to go through before a new manager comes in.

Man U have purchased 2 players, and have had 2 retired. Liverpool have bought 1 player. We're not competing with Man U. We've sold a player that was going whether we had a manager in place or not. At this stage of his career I'm quite sure that even Ancelotti couldn't have convince Ash to stay. I'll concede that it is getting a little more tight around the neck, but if we get this nailed down next week, I don't think we'll be really that far behind anyone.

McLeish? I would be amazed if we went for a manager that took the shit down twice.

hey, if we had Liverpool or ManU's squad i'd be more relaxed but the bottom line is we've lost Brad, presumably Walker, NRC, presumably Young, and possibly Downing. Thats potentially 5 first team players from a pretty average squad anyway. It can take weeks or months to conclude transfer deals to even bring us up to the level of last season.
