Two horse race between McCleish and Bruce then
Christ, that would be depressing.

I've always thought of Bruce as a good manager, but just can't see it and also think we could and should be doing better!

Two horse race between McCleish and Bruce then ..          and MH using us as a stepping stone , is he that good?

No I akm not saying they have approached them I just know they are and would be interested  in Villa job  there is a lot more to the MH thing that we don't know about because for me I cannot see how Martinez would be better than him . Spoke with Man City people who have worked with him and got nothing but praise for him

Coyle is my hope. Similar but a bit better than Martinez.

If Randy is worried about Hughes' loyalty, what on earth would he make of Coyle??

I don't know but was very surprised when I found out that we have no interest in him for reasons I have stated . They won't takie the risk on him is my understanding even though me as the average punter cannot believe he has been discounted , How the hell Martinez would be perceived as right for Villa above Hughes is beyond me and most average punters I would think . He though Hughes pines for the Top club to manage and he has the likes of Chelsea in his sights just bought house in L;ondon hasn't he aswell ? Not sure if that means much these days

I was in the Mark Hughes camp even bumping into Randy after the Villa Everton home game LAST SEASON  to express my thoughts on it he said at the time yes agreed but too late as he had taken the Fulham job which led me to think when GH went and MH resigned that it would be him . I can tell you with as much certainty as anything that a lot has changed and they are genuinely concerned that MH would end up turning us over and they will not be approaching him . It it happens I will be gobsmacked from how direct my nderstanding of their feelings and  how they think it would be  shortlived and the concern that we would be  just a stepping stone for MH . I am getting a lot of PMS which I am not being rude as I haven't replied  but genuinely I do not know who the target is because I am not sure how / what happened with the oustanding candidate Moyes . There is nobody ITK on this it's between 2 people and they aint letting onto anybody which is how it should be but yes frustrating the nearest to ITK now is probably Kendrick  . I also wouldn't rule out the McCleish rumour he would want the job and so would Bruce who still lives in Lapworth and has said to people how much he thinks of Lerner and what he must be like to work for  .

When you say the 'outstanding candidate Moyes' this suggests to me that he's been interviewed and is the one the board wants. If you don't know what happened that suggests to me that he's thinking about it. So it's between him and someone else presumably. I really hope it's him, unless the other one is Mourinho of course, but i can't think of anyone else i'd sooner have. I think he's perfect for us.

Bruce wouldn't be too bad. Definately better than Martinez and McClaren anyway.

Are we to assume we are still only considering managers with PL experience?

I agree don't think there is much chance from Villa's side  but let's see what comes out in the next few days eh about interest in the job from one of them .

If we get Bruce in you can wave goodbye to Bent. No thanks. I'm sick of these middling British-based bosses being linked when there is a whole planet of better candidates out there.

MM - after not taking you seriously last year and then Bent - I have more faith in your ITK's now - but I think you are way off the mark here.

At Xmas, I was in McDonalds waiting for my car to be serviced and picked up a free paper (Daily Mail I think it was) , as I ate my Mince McPie - I sat reading a 4 page article about Steve Bruce, not just the football manager, but the man.

The whole piece was about how happy in his life he was, and he / his family are living their perfect dream. I can't remember the village he lives in , but it was obviously in the NE , and he was saying how he has the best of both worlds, the fame and fortune of football, but the normal life, where he takes his dogs for a walk on the beach, picks up a paper, goes to his local British Legion and then has a drink with the guy who was his dads best mate and has knew him since he was  a toddler.

It went on, regarding football and stuff - but it was mainly about his family.

He certainly didn't mention he lived in Lapworth, nor that he longed to come back.

So I reserve judgement on this one.

Marcelo Bielsa is out of work.

That could be a whole heap of fun.

He looks as though he's the real MM from Villatalk though, you can tell by his grammer, (no offense MM). ;)

And he's been correct / close to the mark on a lot of stuff over there. I think he's just speculating on that anyway.

I saw Bruce Bank Holiday Monday in Estilo's in Mailbox I know I am being precise with that but it's just to say his base is also here as is his  back room staff Spink and Bertschin , I spoke to him at a Villa game when he came scouting 2 when he had not long moved to Wigan trust me he has a lot of time for what Lerner has done despite him managing SHA he would jump at the chance . Loves the area but do I think Villa would go for him not a ruddy chance .
