McLeish?  Good god.  I go out for an evening and look what happens while I'm away.

Seriously????

Maybe the way back for Agents Ridgewell, Curtis and Gardner.  Come in from the cold...
Never thought of that. Get them relegated - mission accomplished.

Probably been discussed elsewhere in the 314 pages of this thread, but i'd be prepared to give little another go. What does anyone else think? I know it ended badly last time, but we played some of our best football under him. He's got premiership experience, is loved by the fans and with a bit of cash to spend, who knows??

He's at Gainsborough Trinity. And not doing particularly well. That would be a case of putting heart over head. A Newcastle-esque appointment. No thanks.

The market is closed at Corals. click on it and you'll get "Next Aston Villa Manager is closed".

Oh ok, fair enough.

Shows what I know about betting on managers in the middle of the night.   :-[

If the reports about Lerner being put off McClaren due to us lot kicking off then I can't see how he'd appoint the Blues manager.

It's really bizarre Holtender. The money has been coming for him all day. I don't believe we'd go for him in a million years. I'm assuming it's market manipulation but to what end I don't know.

How are people still getting worked up about betting trends on the villa job? It's as reliable as our guesses in picking the new manager.

I know the appointment has not been made but I must admit that I thought Villa's profile was much better than it clearly appears to be based on the names that the press and gambling houses are throwing up.

Yes but did we see Darren Bent coming?  That came from absolutely nowhere and I think the board are astute enough not to be running around giving people tip offs as to who we'll appoint.  Martinez was a potential candidate and that is all IMO, who says we actually offered him the job?  If Everton, Newcastle, Spurs etc were to lose their manager tomorrow then my guess is that many of the same names would be floating about to replace them as they are with us. Ok, maybe Spurs wouldn't be looking at Martinez but Benitez, Ancelotti, Moyes etc.   Managers are not like players in that there are only a handful available and the bookies make fortunes from what is effectively a lottery until the club announce the new man.

Blame the general.  He's deployed a military tactic used in the US. Deny or agree to nothing. The masses will will be so distracted with the growing conspiracy that the truth can be hidden...for long enough. Except that this time we're not inventing fake terrorists, we're distracting the media whilst signing Lionel messi, iniesta, xavi and pep guardiola

Are you suggesting that we'll appoint David Icke and Michael Moore as a dream team?

Clearly not....something far more sinister...

I really think it's Hughes.  It's too convenient for it not to be I reckon.

I haven't got a clue who but I just looked on the Villa website and there is nothing from the club on there saying we are not interested in him.  I know the Man of Mystery said that the club would not appoint him until until hell froze over but things can change.

Understandably I do not think Villa have officially ruled anything out except Martinez who didn't fancy it.
