As compensation was mentioned a few minutes ago, regardless of who the target may be, I'd like to remind those on here who are old enough what Tommy Docherty said after signing Bruce Rioch. He was asked when did he know Rioch was available? to which the Doc replied he wasn't available.  He was then asked what made him available? and in usual Doc style replied the money! That may not be exactly verbatim but you know what I mean and yes I remember what happened to us under Docherty.
I remember The Doc saying something like that.
 Nothing changes in football.
And didn't we get Neil Rioch into the bargain?
Or are my brain cells getting worn out?
Quite right brother Neil came as part of the package.

Randy / Paul / General

You have my blessing with Moyes - go ahead

Why didn't you give them your blessing last week? We could have had it all wrapped up by now.

Why £7 ?

Strange figure - why not a tenner ?

Give us the website, I'm gonna stick £6.74p on

Ive said from the start my gut feeling was Moyes. It still is.
Its time for him to step up.*

We have a shortlist. Moyes is not surprisingly on it. Is there any more to the story than that?

I don't get it, why would we want to speak to Martinez and Benitez in the first place if Moyes was our #1 target and it was just taking a bit of time trying to get him?

If it is , Talkshite will be in a quandry won't they.

King Roberto of Valencia thought that staying at Wigan was better than coming to a mediocre sidw ith no money.

But as we are now apparently going for worse people and worse clubs coz no one wants us - obviously David Moyes, and Everton must be in a dire state for him to consider us.

How they gonna do it - they will upset their blessed loyal scouse listeners. Be great to hear them get out of this one

He won't come. Sideways move. Quoted as being not interested.

That sentence means: Moyes is on the shortlist and it's no surprise.

What I think you meant was: Moyes is surprisingly not on it.

The latest from that Villa Insider chap, sounds plausible but as said before, it's nothing anyone couldn't have made up...

First contact this year 4th june. Contact was made last august -Moyes was interested but EFC said no. Moyes wouldn't quit-RL admired loyalty

When Martinez was staying, whelan had nothing to lose by going public. Complimented AVFC but secures PR coup, boosts fan morale and st sales

Deal was similar with wigan and all other clubs - 'stay quiet or all bets are off'. Same between SAFC and AVFC on bent transfer.

Media will not be briefed by AVFC or EFC on this, as per deal agreed between Faulkner and Kenwright.

My source is rock solid, see my tweets re Houllier last September.

AVFC asked fulham for permission to speak to hughes. Were denied. Hughes quit, expecting a clear path to job. Lerner instantly turned off.

Martinez was on a shortlist of 7 when process started. Martinez declined the invite last week. Whelan decided to capitalise on this.

Ok, this is what i know so far re #moyestovilla. Not sure it's done but it's been bubbling since June 4th.

To clarify, 13:00 tomorrow is not an unveiling or press conference. There is apparently a crucial meeting taking place, however.

I guess until you have talks you can't be sure if it's going to happen, best to interview all candidates in no particular order then choose your preferred option from those that want the job and have no unreasonable demands.

I'm putting Moyes in the 'too good to be true' category. Not only is it unlikely because he is settled at a comparable club to Villa, but also because he would surely only come if we guaranteed a sizeable transfer kitty to get back in the top 6, which doesn't seem all that possible.

Just got back from the local shops. On the way there I saw an old dear struggling with some bags. I asked her if she could manage. She told me that she doesn't want the Villa job, either.

Oh , as simple as that  ;D

Anyway - Moyes

I dont believe anything anymore - it would not surprise me if the breaking news on tomorrows Sky Sports welcome to the weekend is "Ant and Dec close to agreeing terms for Villa job"

But I will be over the moon with moyes - and with Tim Howard, who would presumably follow
