Whether we offered him the job is immaterial. We definitely asked permission to speak to him, and permission was granted. He has chosen to waive that right and stay where he is. The Villa website says so. It's rejection, no matter which way you look at it.

CDVilain - are you blind to not see what has just gone on.

RM was on the Villa shortlist to interview - but nowhere near the top - probably aroud 6th or 7th. A kind of "OK - not one of our faves, but worth giving an interview to see what he is all about" - thats all !

RM and DW knew this. They also knew that up until February - Wigan fans wanted him out, and DW had to tell fans "if he goes I go"

So are you telling me after receiving the request 9 days ago, they only decided today that RM wasnt going to speak to us.

No - release it to the press, then turn down the interview and proclaim "look how loyal this guy is to Wigan"

Thus, Wigan fans will keep off his back if things go a bit pear shaped next year.

Sorry mate, niaive or what !

First time poster here, usually just an innocent reader :P

Im wondering why nobody has mentioned Steve Bruce, i know i know, aint the best name out there, but im looking at it for the facts that he still has his house here in lapworth, prefers living here rather than up there, all his friends are still here, hes stated he would like to manage villa... so seems rather odd that nobody has mentioned him. :)

He's a potato headed c***.

And a pretty decent manager.

If considered he would be above Martinez and Coyle, and possibly even Hughes, on my list.

The best manager currently unemployed and fitting the bill,  able to get the best out of mediocre players,  premierhsip and european experience,  knowledge of the club and the players here,  understanding what we need and the changes to be made so can land running is Martin O'neill.

Let's hope he doesn't get offered it then.  Mind you under the current owner anything is possible
