Sorry I jumped the gun a bit, he has been mentioned and the Bent style meltdown is absolutely correct.

Rijkaard or Ancelotti is where my money's going

I'm with you there Toronto

Went out earlier resigned to accepting our fortunes under Martinez, now it appears we are back chasing a top manager.  Has anything been said from a reliable source that Martinez isn't happening?

When you say mentioned, are we talking about the press or folk on this board saying who they want.  I reckon this board has pretty much named everyone from Kinky Flowers to Mervyn King.

I need to know as I want to place a bet.

Ver unimpressed with Sky this morning. The angle was that Villa are in turmoil with Ash leaving, possibly Downing, Big Brad gone etc. Then claiming that Martinez will make his decision by lunchtime.

I mean, bloody Hell. So - apparently- we interviewed him, offered him the job and now he is thinking about it and will let us know.... Bad reflection on the Villa all round.

"They won't catch us this time! Not this time! They haven't spotted us! No, they're all snoring in their bunks! Or, you know what? They're drinking at the bar, celebrating our sinking! Not yet, my friends. Not yet!" - The Captain, Das Boot.

Whilst Sky and everyone else pick the bones out of the Martinez thing, I've got a feeling we're going to see someone else in the winners enclosure - I notice the odds on Carlo have shortened overnight.

I'm taking no chances best blue shirt and claret tie today - see you at Villa Park later for the weigh in.

I fancy Capello for a left field bet. However, his odds had come down to 50/1 the last time I looked.

I can't take much mote of this!! I don't know whether to expect Martinez, ranieri, curbishley or someone I've never thought of.

Is all the excitement purely due to rumours about randy flying out to corsica or has something else happened?

We've either got something up our sleeve or are engaged in the most cack handed managerial appt since england tried to appoint scolari.

I don't believe Martinez is anything other than a very serious option. I have a relatively reliable reason to think that.

22/1 from memory
120/1 on klinsmann
28/1 on Rijkaard

If either of those come in I'm rich (for about a day).  If not I have lost fifteen pounds, although the money is my winnings from Houllier's appointment so no huge loss.
