Teale hates Benitez, so it wouldn't be him.

He put this on FB
Quote
i would still rather go for moyes if that is a defo no then i would go for chris houghton before i would want rafa or mcclaren

Depends who is doing the backtracking.  Is it the club, or a manager who might have recently said something like 'I want to take a year out' ?

MM was also pretty convinced it would't be Hughes whatever happened. Plus, much as I can see merit in appointing him, I'm not sure that would be a gobsmackingly good appointment. MON definitely wouldn't be in that category either.

If it's O'Neill it would be the biggest turnround in football history. They were suing each other a fortnight ago.

If it's "gobsmacking" then it must be someone that's well-known/respected and not already in the frame.

So I've looked at the Chelsea betting odds instead.

Could it be one of: Villas Boas, Van Basten, Rijkaard, Van Gaal, Lippi, Deschamps, Low?

Having said that, the last time I was "gobsmacked" at a managerial appointment was when Newcastle appointed Joe Kinnear.

It's someone that's not been mentioned in the press. The meltdown is coming.

I am Sticking by Ancellotti. Martinez is merely one of a series of interviews. And no way is he going to let him run a multi million pound football club with limited experience and a 26% win success rate. He is aware our image and profile is in decline. And he must have a plan B .........

Ok, so a candidate with Premiership experience, who would be attainable (i.e. not Ferguson, Mourinho, Wenger etc), and not already mentioned.

It must be...

....STEVE KEAN!

Anyone else kind of want Martinez to have a go at it?

1.  You never know he might be quite good and he's certainly respected within the game.
2.  Going with "names" didn't really work with O'Neil and Houllier did it.
3.  HoltePaul's reaction would be hysterical.
