Pity really they don't even know that he's not Atletico Madrid's manager.

That is an article from MAY 9th

He's not their manager anymore, he quit at the end of their season.

I think the poll says it all really doesnt it.

Martinez on 11% and that is taking out the guy who actually had over 50% of the vote (Ancelotti) , so it is realistically around 5%.

If people want to convince themselves it is a good appointment , it is up to them, but I didn't at the start, and I wont change my mind "just in case he comes".

And looking at this 95% of people on here agree with me.

So he's available, a big(ish) name and would surprise a few grumpy fuckers. Let's have him!

Mat Kendrick just been on WM also seems pretty convinced that it is going to be Martinez.  Also claims that Martinez has cut short his carribean holiday to return to the UK to talk to villa which he used as more evidence to support his belief that its more than just a chat with Villa.  Whelan had earlier said that Martinez had returned from his holiday but not that he had cut short his holiday to return to the UK.

Saw the photo of QSF with the 'news' story from TalkSport.  This appointment would definitely be the meltdown promised by MM - for the female villa fans, anyway.
And didn't he just win a cup, or something, last season?

I'm in favour.

He was Atletico's manager when they beat Fulham in the Uefa Cup.

EDIT: That said, from memory they won a shockingly low amount of games to actually reach the final.

None of them have got a clue.  We should start talking about Paul Lambert a lot, and see if he starts to get mentioned on TalkSport.

The bloke on WM is talking like Martinez already has the job.

They probably just got that from off here and are now reporting it. Lol!!

I wonder if QSF has a coat like Maurinho's?  Or a V-necked jumper. These things are  important for a manager's credibility.

Well MM said last night that Kendrick was probably as close as you can get to reliable, so that seems it then.

Why the "meltdown" comment though, apart from McLaren , according to the poll him and Coyle (virtually the same) are the two names Villa fans want least.

He did say "Bent" style meltdown, so he must have thought it was good news. A guy who only attracts 5% of the vote (and I think that is quite generous  - I cant work it out as the Ancelotti figure has disappeared) and of 8 blokes on the poll (and this is leaving out people like ranieri, Van gaal , Flores and about 20 other names you could have added) polled 6th

Well , I dont call that "meltdown" - more "letdown"

I agree that we should start throwing names out there just to see how long it is before it gets reported.
I'll start.
Just heard from an Italian friend that Fabio Capello is rumoured to have had a meeting with Randy Lerner in Corsica..
