Although he should have kept his mouth shut, at least Whelan let out the bag we contacted him 9 days ago.

Therefore I'd be astounded if it was Martinez - it wouldnt have been a hard deal would it, it would have been done well before now.

I cant criticise Faulkner at all, Villa havent said a dicky bird, so lets just wait before fingers are pointed.

Quique Sanchez Flores is by far the most exotic sounding name we've been linked with and therefore I hope that it's him.

Quique Sanchez Flores! He'd be good.

He was crap at Benfica.

That's as maybe, Mark, but just try saying his name out loud! It's like you're actually talking foreign!

What's he won, then?  I can forgive a lot of near misses for the name alone and comedy potential.  Real Men eat... Quique.  Works even better as he's from Athletico Madrid.

An Albion fan I know has just filled me with hope at the idea of Martinez in the face of my huge scepticism.

WM currently hosting an annoitment phone in for what they are describing as the imminent arrival of Martinez.  The host Dan Wheeler seems convinced that its nailed on Martinez to be announced tomorrow.  Bit premature me thinks.

I'm not buying into this waiting for Martinez to make a decision stuff. If he was offered the job, he would be an absolute maniac to turn it down. I'm sure it must just be an interview.

Also, Villa Insider who called Ged a week before he got the job reckons Moyes or Ranieri and the Corsica rumour suggests maybe the latter could be goer?

I'm a fan of Martinez but at this stage it certainly would be a step down, at least Ged had won a fair few trophies. I just can't see it happening unless it was a last resort.

Pity really they don't even know that he's not Atletico Madrid's manager.
