@Cheesy_Combo @avfccentral it's due into Luton later on from Madrid ! #avfc

That's the guy who informed us on twitter that Randy's jet had left BHX, he's been finding out where it went...That's where it did go.

We'll know either way at 1.30 tomorrow according to Whelan.

Hmm Mystery Man, this might be a meltdown but not necessarily a positive one. Personally I quite like Martinez, but not sure if he's the right choice at the moment.

Hughes did himself no favours (assuming he wanted the job) by leaving in an almost O'Neill-esque fashion.

What Hughes did was completely different to O'Neill's actions.  Hughes had a contract with a break clause in it.  Fulham entered into that contract willingly I assume.  If Fulham had got relegated, it would have allowed them to fire Hughes with no compensation, so it worked both ways.  Hughes exerciced his right to walk away, he didn't look for another job behind Fulham's back, and he left right at the very start of the summer, thereby giving them all summer to get a new manager in, which they duly did with a minimum of fuss and bother.

There's your meltdown moment.

I'm lovin the fact Whelan is giving us the time frames in which we and the press will e told things.

Rubbish!! More than likely Martinez has a meeting at some point tomorrow and will be out of it by lunchtime. As to whether anyone will know anymore than they do today is pretty doubtful. I'm sure Whelan doesnt have clue as to what time and what day the Villa board will announce anything.

If he'd kept is bloody mouth shut like he should of and like most other chairmen have then this wouldn't be happening right now.

If you ignore the millions in the bank, the many houses and the private jet, I don't envy Randy's position at all.

Let's assume that he has approached Ancelotti, Benitez, Moyes and Van Gaal but for whatever reason they have all said no.  Therefore he is left with the likes of Martinez and McLaren.  If either of those gets appointed he will look small time, unambitious, mid table etc etc.  Yet he cannot exactly come out and say, "we tried to get Ancelotti (etc) but he said no" because it would instantly undermine the new guy in charge.

I agree Risso, I do not understand how Hughes' actions could have put Randy off.  I think he planned and behaved in a way that best suited all parties.  Fulham did not have to sign the original contract but they did so they always knew Hughes might leave this summer.

Hughes strung them along right up until the last minute. Yes, he was in his right to leave but why pretend you're about to sign a contract when you have no intention of signing it?

Moreover, if Brillo Pad had not invoked that clause in the limited time frame available to him, he would have had to sign on the for the extra year, in which case he would have to break the contract to join another club.

I'm not sure what's concerning fans the most about the possibility of Martinez - the man himself or what it says about our financial state/ambition. It's the second which most interests me - getting Ancelotti/Benitez etc would, more than giving us a good manager, mean that Randy had the ambition and wherewithal to attract them in the first place.

I think that is exactly the worry Bex, at a time when our squad needs a pretty large overhaul.

The reality is, without Randy pumping loads of cash into the club then we do not have the wherewithal to continue to spend at our current levels.  Maybe Randy is trying to approach things from another direction and appointing a manager who will stick around and (hopefully) grow with the club for the next ten years or so.

Not to piss on anyone's chips, but remember that Martinez is Spanish too.

If he's gone to Madrid to speak to a bloke that lives in Wigan, then he needs to find a new travel agent aswell as football manager.

He does not live in Wigan.

Just because he looks like a Pie Eater, doesn't mean he is one.
