On Twitter, villamatt,a guy who works for talksport, put a tweet on asking for info on how to contact a Villa fanzine editor.

Is it worth tuning in Dave ?

I'd do it on behalf of H&V if Dave wants me to.
Just saying, like. It would give me a good opportunity to put that bell end Durham in his place.

I think the only thing more ridiculous than offering Martinez the Villa job is him refusing it.

In any case, I very much doubt he has been offered it.

Whelan, Martinez and Wigan Athletic FC have been used as the biggest smokescreen in the history of Aston Villa.

It'll be the 'he decided to stay with us - viva la Wigan' type spin, which will put the more easily convinced on here into a right meltdown, when in fact he was just a name on a list, and probably quite far down that list, and we decided not to offer him the job/pursue it any further.

Who killed JFK ?

I do not believe for one second that our board (who are infamous for doing things the "right" way) would play games or concoct smokescreens over the appointment of a high profile professional in the club.

I just do not see the reason for that.

I agree, just because we asked to speak to him doesn't mean we have and if we have he will not be the only one we have spoken with. I would imagine he is plan B.

Either that or Whelan is under pressure from the fans, so leaks this to the press, offers Martinez a better deal and then looks the hero for keeping the manager away from an evil bigger club.

We will appoint someone who has not even been spoken about, thats what happened before which proves the club are good at keeping this type of thing under the radar. I think the premiership experience thing is old news being rehashed. The press have not idea who might get the job.

So do you hold on to your ideals and play by the rules which may lead to your end results being compromised, or do you shit  on the competition in an effort to gain that extra edge?

As always there isn't a right or wrong answer,  its a personal choice.

You could argue randy has a responsibility to the supporters of aston villa not everton or wigan. Having said that, that wasn't really the original point i was trying to make .

From the Dave Whelan quotes,

"They wrote to me asking for permission to speak to Roberto. He was on holiday at the time and I granted Villa permission."

This shows it could have been days ago, the same time we wrote to lots of others. This is just one huge PR stunt by Mr JJB
