Matt Kendrick up until MON left had no insight into what was going on over anyone else I even remember the ludicrous Peter Crouch was coming back stories . That was because he was frozen out by MON starved of info he is now being fed morsels but far more informed than any other journalist is .

I also wouldn't rule out Benitez totally but the doubt remains over how controllng he could be

He's better than Baggie Bill!

I'm putting a tenner on Dalglish being the next but one manager if it's Benitez next.

MM can you clarify - your post is a little confusing.

Are you saying Kendrick doesn't really know anything more than the rest of us (as per the was frozen out / club worried over control etc)

or

He does know something and unless he comes across as some kind of tirant it will be Benitez (as per - he knows more than other journos)

Cheers

Utter rubbish, i just asked matkendrick and u knw what his response was??? Ha ha no truth at all.

I so hope you are right otherwise VP aint going to be pleasant next season.

let's just say it is McClaren, and he does well, would your argument hold water?

the place may be half empty at the start of the season if he's appointed. If so, will a good start bring back those who don't renew?

Not sure if it means anything probably not.

This interview with Benitez from The Sunday Times a few weeks back is worth a read: http://trunc.it/fymme

What I like about Benitez is that, even though he may not be an instant hit, he'll be forever in search of improving the team through changes in tactics, training etc. I don't see him running out of ideas like MON did, which was the reason why we hit a glass ceiling under him.

On the other hand Rafa did a pretty good job of changing the team every week and not necessarily a good point when you have a winning team

Long time reader first time poster.

I'm warming to the idea of Rafa coming in I think with the turmoil of the previous board it was taking a toll on him whilst 'The Mighty Reds YNWA' manager and although many will point to his perceived "arrogance" during his press conferences and the Barry saga I think he'd do a good job representing a club like ours. His CV is one of the best around of potential managers of whom we've been linked with but I'm of the impression he may want to manage in the way MoN was allowed too which may put Mr Lerner off ( once bitten twice shy )

Anyhow I think it may be a "left field" appointment much like GH when he came in, I'm sure many of us didn't see that coming and although it was a bumpy season to say the least ( tin hat ready ) I was looking forward to seeing what GH could do with a full summer window and pre-season.

But I guess it's a case of wait and see, I'm sure the board will learn the lesson of last season and onwards and upwards we go.

Sky reporting Benitez now strong favourite- huge money on him in last hour from 7/1 to 6/4- looking promising.

I am saying he used to know nothing much because he was given nothing to go other than agent speak but now he knows far more than any other journalist because Villa trust him . James Nursery as an example knows less than most on this Board about what is going on didn't stop him posting some of the biggest rubbish you could ever think of but had to fill in the inches of his paper  I think he is as close to what is going on as any one  altho I suspect we are feeding him titbits to keep him away from the real deal . I haven't ruled out the unexpected from what I have learn't today but no I don't know the name .

Got to be Benny now - did you just see the way he organised them Salt and Pemind you, pepper pots ! - mind you , the salt was more mobile than Richard Dunne and lets face it, if Collins had been where the pepper was, he'd have jumped off the table and ran up the other end of the restuarant - so our defence will be harder to sort !

Anyway, seriously, at least the telly are now saying McLaren is now unlikely - I can breathe a lot easier now.

Benny I will be well happy with a slight caution

and if we get better, then I'll be bloody ecstatic.

Eh - we need a central midfielder to replace Petrov - if RB comes - Barry anyone ? - cant see him getting a game at Man C this year.
