Agreed mr woodhall. With your contacts dave do you have a gut feeling who the new man might be?

Ain't got a clue.

The Lurkers finest moment.

Of course, I could always say "From which album?"

CIA and MI5 come to Villa Park for training.

More than Stephen Ireland does.

If rafa and Hughes are the 2 being interviewed I will sleep soundly as both would do an excellent job in my opinion- moyes on more than one occasion has said he's not interested and I'd far rather have a manager who's desperate to manage Aston villa.

It depends if the manager 'desperate' to manage us would be right for us, which i don't think Hughes would be..

Come on chris you surely saw rafa on football focus, he would love the villa job as I'm sure would Hughes- villa are an attractive proposition with a great stadium, fanbase and chairman and a useful squad- the top clubs all have managers and rafa and Hughes would both jump at the chance to manage this club.

I surely didn't watch football focus.

Hughes and Benitez both want a job, that doesn't mean that they are "desperaste" to manage us. It's just a career move same as would it be for Mpyes if he came.

To be fair it didn't have a lot of competition.

Moyes wouldn't come out and say he wants the job,not while he's still at Everton,we'll only know this if we make an approach and he forces Evertons hand and speaks to us.

If this happens,it'll happen so quickly, just like the Bent deal.

Moyes has made clear on more than one occassion he is not interested in managing Aston villa - what part of not interested do you not understand?

Moyes would have walked out on everton  if that were the case -rather than signing Jay bothroyd if he was about to up sticks and leave.

The Bent deal was kept under wraps for a while no one really had much of a sniff what was going on . If you had asked the majority of Villa supporters pre the Bent deal if we would spend 18 to 24 million on a proven striker of this calibre I bet most would say no our ambition is no better than say a Robbie Keane or Dejemba Ba .
Think we may be surprised who we actually get but the one thing for certain is they won't rock the deal by going public on it until it's done !

This is great isn't it? Nobody has a clue what's going on. I imagine this is what it's like working for the UK Border Agency.

The annoying thing is that, in that article on the 21st May, Moyes unwittingly (maybe) makes a cast iron case for taking the Villa job. He basically compares the Chelsea job (lots of funds but no stability) with Everton (lots of stability but no funds) and concludes that he's better off where he is.

Does he not think that the Villa job = Stability + Funds = Ideal Job?

I really have no idea how the club do it to be honest. In an age where everything is public, and with social media rampant, cell phone cameras, bloggers etc etc. If they pull a complete shocker out of the bag akin to the Dazza Bent deal, I would like to think we'll all have a greater respect for the work being done behind the scenes at the club.

I wonder if the General's had a hand in providing strategies and tactics for covert operations - be it toppling governments or hiring PL managers ;)

Of course he's gonna say that. I remember Big Ron saying something similar, then two days later he was our manager. If we approached Everton this could all change, that was my point. We have no idea whats going on in Randys head.
