He was always a long shot anyway. I think RL would have to prove there was a substantial sum available - at least MON type spending - to convince him we were serious in getting into the CL.
And without that type of spending I would say we are not serious about getting into the CL.

I've heard a rumour that Mysteryman on here is a fake!

it should not be Hughes but I'd rather it was Hughes than Mclaren

No, he's the real deal.

MM has posted here, albeit sparsly, for a couple of years now. It would be great if we didn't put him off posting on our site. His information is always honest and well informed and not intended in a 'look at me' way. Be nice peoples!

Good to hear from you MM, who would you prefer to be the new man at the helm?

Hey, first post. Came over here because I heard MM is on this forum now.

Whats the inside scoop? Or is this all just a ploy by H&V to get people over to this forum..!!

Me too, mainly because I've got £480 profit riding on it!
In reality I would prefer Benitez over all the potential candidates at the moment.

This is pure speculation. CA said he hadn't been contacted by Villa. Matt Kendrick says there was contact with his advisors. Either way it's a bit of a leap to suggest that any serious converstation took place about RL's proposed spending or Champs League ambitions.

Presumably things did not get to that stage because Ancellotti wants a team already in the Champs League, or at least knocking on the door, and that's not us, now or any time soon.

We've got a kitten.

When I say 'we' I mean my family and not the H&V collective. It's called Jiggs.

We were for the past few seasons, so the right manager in and we should be doing so again.

ha ha, thanks.

So I'm hoping beyond hope that its Moyes. I've always liked his everton teams and he seems to have such a strong bond with his players.

How theyve hung on to the likes of Cahill, Arteta and Baines while we seem destined to lose our best player year in year out is beyond me.

Here's hoping we get Moyes and he brings a few of his pals with him..

Simply cannot see Moyes leaving Everton for Villa. May be an upwards step to us, but from his point of view it would be too much of a gamble. I am hoping for Benitez now, seems the outstanding candidate left, and if not then Coyle over Martinez.

Aw what a lovely story, you've brightened up my day.

If you had said you'd called the cat Carlo or something like that I'd have thought you were givin me hints..

Can't think of any manager called Jiggs though.

Can he stay there forever though.. winning nothing.. consistently gettin top 8.

He has to want a change at some point and he's not likely to be offered a massive step up.
Sometimes a sideways step can offer a new way forward.
