Hughes is definitely going to Chelsea as a double act with Hiddink. We are left with Benetiz, Jol, van Gaal, Rijkaard.
Please Randy with that lot available not McLaren.

Tough being a Villa fan since Joe Mercer. Tougher having lived through Doug.

GH was ultimately a mistake - no fault in Lerner for that- he aimed high and I hope we will get a good'un. GH had a good CV and Euro potential and I think RL will look again for that. Ancellotti? Maybe he thinks himself too good for us. Sorry, but can't blame him for that unless he wants a challenge with a sleeping, what Giant? More like sleeping Beauty and we need the kiss of life.

Oh what credibility he would (have) given us. What a statement of intent and what a shovel up the backside to those of us who have accused  the Villa of lacking Ambition since post Gregory. Don't start....

Dwight, Fat arse, James, Ash and maybe Downing et al all seeing us as just a stepping stone. It hurts.

Build the bridge Randy for Christs sake.

Oh well - some good names out there except Michael Myers in clogs. But for once I hope it is a respected name with Euro credibility as a statement of intent. To keep our best players and us on side.

They are all listed here. I hope we speculate and not go safe. Hughes, Moyes? They suit I guess but they don't excite. CA did. I live in hope.

I'm sure people who are close to Randy , do troll these pages to see what the fans are thinking and I'm sure Randy knows how important the fans are , in fact they are the most important.   So I'm sure there is no way he will appoint that brolly clown.

I find it hard to believe that, knowing Houllier was quite possibly not coming back, Randy and co would not have started making plans for what to do in that eventuality ages ago, so as not to find ourselves in a mess again.

Given that, and the haste and expense with which we shifted Houllier last week, I would be astonished if we weren't already talking to a number of possible replacements - of the type and availability that made them shift Houllier so quickly in the first place.

You said it all Simba!
There's a lot of dedication, heartache and bitterness in your words.
Best of all there's hope and optimism too!
I'm praying big time!

Juan P - I hope you are right. There is much sense on here. The only danger is that whoever at the Club is given the task of sourcing and relating fan opinion is brave enough to pass on real, cogent argument and not a junior 'yes man'. You know the corporate environment I am sure. Randy will have respected footy advisors on hand. This is not a small business and as you say:

The Fans are the Club. We are forever and pay a goodly portion of the costs - current management is transient- but I am sure they want a positive legacy, fan support, and respect as well as a deserved profit.

Had a text earlier this evening from a mate who likes a punt telling me to take the 5/2 on McLaren being our next manager as he had heard he will be speaking to the club in the next day or so

I have told him I would rather stick knitting needles in my eyes but is he making this stuff to annoy/stress me out or is the Wally with the Brolly's arrival imminent?

Please say he is making it all up, please...

Hopeful interview:

Question 1: Are you Steve McClaren?
Answer 1: Yesh.
Question 2: Could you please close the door quietly on your way out?
Answer 2: Shorry to have washted your time.

Lobster: If he is talking to the Club,

you can relax. That'll be the end of it. Be like employing Windy Miller.

I cant see why he gets so much stick for having the temerity to open an umbrella when its raining. I, of course, see why he gets stick for that ridiculous dutch accent and all the 'Lamps & JT' stuff when England manager. Ask a fan of any other club and they'd probably put him in the same boat as SGT, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt if he was to roll up here...for a time.

I have taken the precaution of stocking up the fridge with beer on the off chance I see a 'Breaking News Steve McClaren in talks...' headline appear on Sky Sports News and feel the sudden urge to drink myself to death!

The lad who sent the text message isn't normally one for making stuff up but here's hoping there's no truth whatsoever in the story... please!
