Could Randy appoint someone we doesn't expect. ie Not

David Moyes or Carlo Ancelotti or Mark Hughes or Martin Jol or Rafa Benitez or Robert Martinez or Louis Van Gaal or Steve McWally.

Any former Villa players worth a look ? as a manager.

It would be interesting to see how many applications are there.

I think Rafa will be the new Gafa and I would be very pleased with that.

Do you not think that the board might not fancy him after the Barry business? There seemed to be a lot of ill feeling at the time and although they might see it as water under the bridge I'm sure it will cross their mind as to whether they can have the required close relationship.

I would if we were to appoint Steve McClaren as manager, he'd beat Luigi Delneri's record at Porto who in 1993 lasted 15 pre-season days before being sacked?

Rafa could just spin that by saying he was being a tool in the best interests of Liverpool FC, and would do the same if he managed us. As much as it royally pissed us off, you have to somewhat admire someone who will fight for what he wants. Even if it means throwing sand in the eyes of his opponent, or biting them metaphorically speaking. I really don't want a doormat Villa manager who you sometimes feel is going out just to compete, rather than always trying to win.

Happy with FSW, happy with Coyle, happy with Moyes, unsure of Martinez but willing to try, not keen on Hughes the mercenary, DO NOT WANT AN UMBRELLA STAND

I'not sure that attitude would impress Randy in an interview. If he was an outstanding candidate rather than one who had flopped in his last 2 seasons (whatever e circumstances) it might not matter but as it stands I have my doubts.

Unfortunately we would have him for three years. First year 10th place, second year (Give him time) 8th , 3rd year brink of relegation - sacked. Miserable. Predictable.

Leroy Rosenoir was appointed manager for Torquay. But 10 minutes later the club was purchased by a large consortium. This effectively ended his job .........

If the list is that poor, get Big Ron back. At least we'd have entertaining football.

I remember saying this at the time, for all I hated Rafa's (are we not allowed to call him FSW anymore ?) tactics regarding Barry- I had no malice with him, he was only acting in the interests of Liverpool, which he was paid to do.

Exactly the same as , it doesn't matter how much potato head moaned, Houllier only acted in the interests of Villa regarding Bent.

Not an issue for me, both managers at the time (Rafa and MON) were correct in what they did - the fact it turned into a public slanging match was un-necessary though, and was unprofessional by both of them

Could today have gone any worse for us -  I woke up expecting the Ancelotti bandwagon to keep on rolling only to find by early evening McClaren and "my mates dad" type rumours all over the place. He's now 2 to 1 favourite on betfair with Carlo out with the washing and Rafa heading that way. I've reached the level of anger only a trip to Ikea can generate.

I know there are not many things people all agree with on here but I think we're united when it comes to McClaren and the club must realise how pissed off we'd all be if this happens.

Cannot see how mclaren could be appointed ahead of rafa or Hughes- it would be hugely negative and tonights comments about the board being in no rush and not expecting anything to happen this week only add to my disappointment.

are we not allowed to call him FSW anymore ?

Given his sudden popularity FSW seems a bit disparaging. Maybe NSM (Not Steve McClaren) is more suitable, and at least key to understanding why the Pro-Rafa camp has become so big.
