If we managed to get Ancelotti it would be as big a coup as I can remember and a real sign that we mean bidniz!
I hope its not all balderdash and the gossip monkeys have it right. He's about as good as we could feasibly get.

I wouldn't worry about what formation he'd play either. He knows how this league works. He's already won it.
Benitez is a decent booby prize. At least we know he's after a job and we could get him. So we dont have to worry about the likes of McLaren and Hughes, right? They're not good enough to get this job as things stand.

Mazzrim , dont take it wrong coz I agree with everything you say.

Just the "Good as we could feasibly get" bit I wanna pick up on. Let's face it, two years ago, when CA was at Milan - would you have even dreamed that he would become Villa manager ?. I bet you could have got odds in the thousands on it !. The only reason we have got of getting him is because he went to Chelsea, one of the richest clubs in the world, and now, luckily for us, seems he really likes England. If he hadn;t gone to Chelsea, there was more chance of Villa appointing Carlos Cueller as manager than Carlo Ancelotti !.

So the "good as we can feasibly get" is so far off the mark. If we get Ancelotti, it is the equivelant of a sewage worker who looks like Phil Neville pulling Penelope Cruz !!!!

We can't get much better if we appoint Ancelotti. He's won the lot and only 52

So has Benitez and he's 51.

Carlo's won four league titles. 2 with Milan, 1 Juve, 1 Chelsea. 2 European Cups and 1 FA Cup.
Rafa : 2 league titles, 1 European Cup, 1 FA Cup.
I know I'm being picky but always Carlo for me.

As another poster said Laursen as coach would be great. Or Maldini. Winky thing here.

What ITK knowledge?
This is one ITK source, from www.avillafan.com

An anonymous source is suggesting that ex Chelsea and AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti is set to become the new Villa boss within the next week.

The highly rated Italian is apparently top of Villa owner Randy Lerner’s wishlist, and is set for talks this coming week.

Mr Ancelotti has not hid the fact that he would like to stay in English football after his time in London with Chelsea. With Fulham and Villa the only other 2 Premier League teams without a current boss that limits the double winners choices.

The Italian is said to be staying in a hotel close to Villa’s training groud at Bodymoor Heath from Monday.

As stated above this is from a unconfirmed but usually reliable source. The same person gave AVillaFan the information of Martin O’Neil’s departure 48hours before it was confirmed. However, I will still advise to take this information with a pinch of salt until anything comes directly from the club.

Yeah, only in the present circumstances, with so many of the top jobs having something approaching safe encumbents and big competition for the jobs that are available can you imagine any feasibility in getting him and no, a few years ago I wouldn't have give any odds on it.
But Aston Villa is no fugly Dyna-Rod bloke. More like a famous 80s rock star trying to make a comeback, if only the emo kids and Bieber clones would shut the fuck up for a minute and give us a chance.

Don't agree with you holtepaul. Stop holding Aston Villa is such low regard. By the way I heard Penelope Cruz has a super injunction out to stop an ex Manu footballer from revealing details of a one nighter!

Talks are open with Carlo, but remember - he still has to say yes #carlo2villa #avfc

Not earth-shattering news, but at least Ancelotti's name is mentioned.

I am torn over Benitez and Carlo over the more suitable, I think Rafe will do a great job at his next stop. Ancelotti would be such a HUGE statement though, AC Milan, Chelsea, Aston Villa. Wow... we would be certain Randy means business.

Laursen may even get a coaching stint if CA gets the gig?

For those who say CA would not know / understand or even care about the club and it's tradition, how would you feel if a certain Mr Laursen was brought back as part of his team.

Would not make any difference to me. In fact it would worry me.

I would hope that any manager, whoever it is, brings in the team who he thinks is best for the job, and has enough confidence in his abilites not have to select on the basis of sentimental or populist reasons.

I would LOVE Laursen on the touchline with Carlo using him as his attack dog. Would be amazing. Ah the dreams.
