Newspaper don't know shit. Randy Lerner is still in the States (according to BBC News Midlands) and probably come over next week. So assuming he arrive on Tuesday, we probably know who is our new manager on Thursday.

'The longer this goes on' - it's been two days! McGrath bless the Internet

I'm waiting for the 'get on with it Randy' posts, which we'll see shortly, as if appointing a manager of a multi-million pound venture can de done within a week!

The way it see it is that if Hughes had been approached we wouldn't be seeing the denials from him and his agent as they could just avoid the question somehow instead.  Doesn't mean it may not be him, but just that we've not made a move yet.  Most likely reason for that is we have a preferred target, who is likely Ancelotti.  So if he says 'no' it's back to the drawing board and that will probably mean Hughes.

I've read all 94 pages of this thread with great interest yet I am surprised by one one glaringly obvious and one startling omission. The reason why we haven't got a new manager yet is due to the malevolent hands of MON who is being controlled by Doug who is secretly a shape shifting lizard. Fact. That's a FACT not believe or know but FACT. However it is rumoured in the German press that Thomas Flath is interested in coming to the Villa and if you've spent more than five minutes on Wikepedia, like I have, then you will know, not believe, that his pedigree is second to none. Hold on to your seats.

Rafa Benitez has reminded all the Premier League's managerless clubs he is ready and raring to go.
Aston Villa, Fulham and Chelsea are all without a boss and the former Liverpool and Inter Milan chief wants to remind any chairmen looking to recruit that he is on the market.
"I want to stay in England. I will not name clubs, but it is clear there are not many to choose from," the Spaniard said.
"Something can emerge and, if not, I will be patient. The important thing is to choose well. The Premier League and I have a good understanding and respect.
"I've turned down offers from clubs from outside, but now my priority is the Premier League."

Have any of you considered the possibility of MON  and Randy making up and the "Messiah" returning to Villa Park? It could happen don't count it out just yet!

You and that mentallist Holtepaul.  I don't know about Randy, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to work with a bloke who'd dropped me in it from a great height and then took me to court over it.

Majority on here have voted for Ancelotti. Why do you think he can make a team  in Villa's position into a CL team? He didn't exactly set the world on fire at Reggiana, Parma and Juve before AC MIlan successful era.

Not a chance.

I've resigned myself to McClaren.

He took Parma to 2nd in Serie A.  Had a lot of money to spend granted, but still got them there.

Why?  I think he's a real outsider for the job.

Yes but not good enough. Our next manager must win the PL title within 5 years and FA cup in the first 2 seasons. I can't wait any more. (and yes I am having one of those strange mornings. Sun is shining so every thing is going to be all right!)

Well, it took him one season to do it at Chelsea, and also threw the FA cup in for good measure, so he's the man for you then ;)
