I reckon Hughes can get us back to where we were before O'Neil left but Ancellotti can get us even higher.

That's exactly my worry, Hughes has shown himself capable of getting in and around the europa spots but nothing more.  He might do really well, he might hit a ceiling.

With Ancelotti he has done it.  Even with a great squad you have to know what you're doing to win a league and cup double in your first season.

Hughes wouldnt be my first choice but it could be a lot worse if true. The most important thing is that everyone gets behind him straight away. I remember Gregory wasnt an over popular choice but the backing he got was superb from the off!! And what a start and fiest year or so he had!!

My worry too. Could see us around the europa spots after 2 or 3 years starting to doubt whether he can take us any higher. O'Neil all over again. We must try for Ancellotti.

Hughes would be a great medium- to long-term appointment, I think.

I definitely think that neither Benitez or Ancelotti would be good "fits" for the Villa, although we would certainly at least have the enjoyment of a transfer merrygoround if either were appointed.

I would be gutted with Hughes. Another appointment lacking in ambition.

Apparently Sky Italia are reporting now that Ancelotti has said no.

I think Spunky will do OK.

Let's not kid ourselves, we are unstable. Another season like the last and we will disintegrate.

I am not thrilled but there it is. We have to eat what's on our plate.

Hmmm, the plot thickens.
I hope this doesn't drag on too long.
