And you would know how much the players respect which manager how exactly?

Be interesting now

Up until the time this broke - 27 and 12.4 % on people voted for Hughes.

That means 87.6% thought there was a better manager. And virtually all of these were between two people.

You watch now, every come on saying "Hughes was always my choice !".

It's an OKish appointment, nothing more , nothing less, and a hell of a lot less than we could have done.

Can you imagine the England camp today , not especially Young, coz I think he would go if we employed Pep Guadiola !.

But I bet Downing and Bent were discussing it, and thinking "Bloody hell, we could get Ancelotti - I made the right choice coming to Villa !".

Wonder if Downing wants to sign a contract now we are having Mark Hughes ? - I very much doubt it.

And that tells the whole story

Sorry if it annoys. I have to do it, for some reason, if I don't put a space between lines, the cursor skips all over the place and types over stuff.

Because you 'doubt' something, it tells a story?

You don't understand this numbers malarky much, do you?

Hughes? What a let-down when it could quite possibly have been Ancelotti. Has anything been confirmed yet, or is it still conjecture?

Conjecture, all seems a bit bob bradley-esque to me.  Loads of people were convinced he was the manager last year and we didn't even interview him.

Don't get me wrong, Hughes may get the job but I'm not convinced it's as clear a certainty as most people seem to think.

IMO Hughes has always improved the squads he has managed and gets them playing to their potential, or even above (I am ignoring the circus at Man City).

As I and others have questioned is whether he can build something from the bottom up.  Either he, or the club needs to identify this as a problem and then they can address it.  If they do that then I'd be happy with the appointment.

And what if we have approached Ancelotti and he said 'No grazie'?

Be happy enough with Hughes. Played at massive clubs and has good experience. Knows what it takes to get to the highest level. Should be able to get the best out of Dunne, Warnock and Ireland which could potentially save us 25m in the transfer market.

However, if Ancelotti ends up at Fulham I will be most disappointed.

Note, I didn't compare hughes to bradley, I compared the fact that 2+2=5 for everyone suddenly, just as it did when there were rumours Bradley had quit his job with the US team.

Then that's fair enough.  Then we should approach Benitez.  There is a point at which Hughes becomes the best available option but a few people would have to turn it down before we get to him.

I reckon Hughes can get us back to where we were before O'Neil left but Ancellotti can get us even higher.

That would be fair enough. Then I'd be enquiring about Benitez.
