Ranieri got mentioned on my fb but I wouldn't want him.

In this order:

1. Ancelotti (aim to be the best, go for the best)
2. Jol (did well with Spurs)
3. Moyes (needs a fresh start, could well work for both parties)
4. Hughes (maybe we should be less negative about the prospect)
5. Coyle, Lambert, Martinez (worth taking a chance?)

Hughes most likely.

Roeder is availble.

Benitez is my choice

Ancellotti would be fun.

Moyes isn't coming, that's pretty clear.

My choice of the 'obvious' ones would be Ancelotti, followed by Benitez, then Jol.

Hughes I'd put ahead of McLaren.

Ditto to all of that.  I actually think McLaren is a good coach but there's an enormous embarrassment factor with him these days.  Pity.

Looks like the Hughes idea is gaining a bit of momentum.  Obviously he's not my first choice, and I think it would be an(other) opportunity missed, but I suppose there could be worse appointments - although I'm struggling to think of them at the moment.

Martin O'Neill
Gerard Houllier

There's two to be going on with!

If his last appointment is anything to go by Randy may well try for Ancellotti. Champions league experience and cups to his name.

Flores - ex Athlectico manager has also been linked, he should be on the poll.

Don't know nowt about him  - but I'll put him higher than Curbs !

In fact, and speaking honestly here, surely to god even McLeish would be a better and more attainable option over Curbishley.

Although I still want Ancellotti

I wouldn't mind betting this:-

Moyes - Villa
McLeish - Everton
MON - Blues and become even more hated at Villa Park

On the positive side at least we have a decent choice.

He's one, maybe two, jobs away from returning. If he'd done better at Wolfsburg he might have been okay, but the baggage is still there.

Quite!  It's an interesting point actually.  The O'Neill replacement was the single biggest decision the board have had to make since they took over.  And having had it backfire on them bigtime I wonder whether that will affect their decisionmaking this time.  Will they resolve to be bolder and go for the very best?  Or, having been burned, will they look to play it as safe as possible?

It would probably be a lot easier to list the managers that would be behind McLaren.
A decent coach but the stick if he had a poor start back in England would be ridiculous.
