This summer there a choice of decent names available in Carlo, Hughes, Benitez , mclaren etc. Thank fuck fat Sam got a job!

Personally if we went for younger manager and going to build for long term I would go for Hughes or coyle or Martinez.

Whatever you say about Robobum, and there is much to be said, you have to admire his energy.

I think Graham Turner is ready for another crack at the big time.

Failing that Seamus O'Sullivan was unstoppable in the H&V fantasy league if they wanted to take a chance on an up and coming manager.

In order
1. Moyes
2. Jol
3. Martinez
4. Hughes
5. Benitez
6. McClaren
7. Curbs

Ancelotti is just massively unrealistic.
1-2 I'd be extatic
3-5 Reasonably happy
6 Non plussed
7 Massively p!ssed

No, apparently MacAllister is still there. No point in getting rid until there's a new person in place I suppose.

Oh Ok - so you want me to go back two years to 1996.

So take all the clubs I just said, as they were spending just as much in 1996 than 98
Paul, I would have thought that after your disaster with numbers the other night you might learn to be a bit more careful.

Let's try another two years to 1994 shall we?

edit: Incidentally, I'm not sure why we're getting into the tedium of teaching you to count. My original point was nothing more than to say that "a team that was always considered a Division 2 side started to have some vision, started to appoint some big names, Hullit, Vialli, (and remember this was before Russians so you cant say it was money)" is quite clearly nonsense as money is exactly what it was for.

Can only see it being Hughes.

I am sure that we will have plenty of managers say that they want the job, but I think it is a foregone conclusion that Hughes is the man that Mr Lerner wants to manage our club.

Let's hope the MacLaren rumours are just that. New managers need a bit of patience, and as we've seen down the villa, if things turn sour then the fans will be on his back almost from the off.

Terry Shrieves quit as manager of Newport Pagnell FC
been there 6 years and done a great job, with little money, [well no money actually]

up against the might of St Neots [S Moore plays for them i think] and Kings Lynn, otherwise known as moneybags, who are just buying sucess, bastards.

anyway, is it any coincidence that he's quit just as we are looking ?
i think not,
so heads up,get on with odds around 10000/1, you can thank me later

[ and he also puts out strong sides in cup competitions, which is a nice bonus]

So Hughes signed Warnock for Blackburn and Ireland thrived under him for Man City. Maybe hope for their Villa careers if he was to take over?

I apologize if it has been covered already but one thing in Hughes' favour is that he might get Ireland to behave.

I really am getting the feeling that SSN are banging the drum for Mark Hughes a bit too much, so they can say we had our finger on the pulse and suggested it first. The way Phil Thompson is talking at the moment it could be tied up very quickly! He also said he talked to GH yesterday and he was looking forward to pre-season then today he stands down...GH's messenger for the press maybe?!
