Ancelotti should come to the Villa.!

Fuck sake people, get a grip.

I'm confused. What should we think/want/hope for?

Someone who we realistically have a chance of getting maybe .

"This is the Aston Villa football club, and it deserves nothing short of the best." Do you know who said that?

Why did Carlos tevez join West Ham

Why did Robinho join Man City

Why did Van de Sar spend 4 years at Fulham after dominating with Ajax

Why did Darren Bent join us for christs sake , I still can't work out that one !

Who bloody knows , all I know is, they did ! - and all I feel is, whilst Ancelotti is available, and after he said he wants to stay in England (and, although i font think I ever saw quotes, he was even being mentioned for the West Ham job) , and if, we are saying (although , again, no quotes as it hasn't even confirmed we need a new manager) we want someone with PL experience.

Then giving all that - we'd be mad not to approach him. If he don't come, he don't come - but we would be mad not to try.

The answer to the first two are simply....Money!

Club Honours

Yep I stand by my quote , weve been mediocre for the best part of 80 years.

1 league Championship & 1 FACup in the last 80 years.

Sorry if my opinion doesnt sit well but thats how i see Aston Villa .

5 league cups, 1 league, 1 Euro Cup, 1 super cup in my lifetime (and I am only 40 !)

As well as two runners ups, 1 cup final (FA) and another cup final (L)

Ask any fan outside Anfield or Old Trafford under the age of 41 have they seen all that ?

Oh shit !

Just realised

No Auto Windscreens or Anglo - Italian cup on that list - damn !  :)

however, on the other hand, I forgot Simod Cup (now was it semi finalists, or Northern finalists !)

Why did Van de Sar spend 4 years at Fulham after dominating with Ajax

...because he went to Juventus and destroyed his reputation resulting in Fulham being his level at the time?

So maybe a comparison with Ancelotti and being sacked by Chelsea then ?

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet...

Hughes had an open chequebook whilst at Man City, and signed Shaun Wright Phillips and Roque Santa Cruz.

Right I have decided.

I have read a few articles and other bobbins and I demand that Randy appoints Ancelotti as head coach with Gareth Southgate as a sort of Aston Villa overlord responsible for youth development and as a diplomat who represent us (he could even carry on with his punditry).

I have always liked Southgate.  He comes across as intelligent and studious about football yet maybe lacks the charisma to be a true coach/motivator.  Furthermore he appears to have turned his back on management - see the following quote after being appointed at the FA:

“I certainly won’t be leaving this role to go and manage a club in the foreseeable future. I accept the longer you are outside management, the opportunity might not be there for you but I’m very comfortable with that. You have to look at what drives you as a person and I like longer-term planning.

Ancelotti - for me - is the best available coach out there and I think they could work well as a partnership.  If Ancelotti left (after being a success) then Southgate's infrastructure would be in place so the club would not have to completely change direction when the next manager came in.

Discuss.

Yet most of the players he signed still form the backbone of the Citeh side who have just finished 3rd and won the FA Cup.

Mancini -with close to unlimited resources- still had enough faith in the bulk of the players he inherited to do the job.

In fact, Mancini's big signings have arguably been more questionable; Boateng, Milner, Balotelli haven't exactly brought much to the table. Yaya Toure has done well, but at 250k a week you'd flaming well hope so.
