Serious question, the one name missing from that William Hill list was McCallister - anyone know his odds.

Another name not mentioned - Glenn Roeder.

I'd happily take Hughes.  Did well with Rovers, ok they weren't great to watch but had limited resources.
The Man city fans I work with, said he played great attacking football.  It's argueable that if he wasn't sacked that he'd have reached 4th with the season before last.
I think he'd relish working for Lerner, and he certainly can attract players.  He's worked for the best manager of all time, and has won trophies as a player, wherever he's been.

I don't agree with the claims that he'd be no better than MON.  I'd be delighted at a couple of wembley appearances and a top 6 finish.

If it is true that GH won't be coming back, then I have mixed emotions. At times, last season was a disaster.not helped by Gerard, but slowly the football improved and new signings helped as did injuries clearing up.

Just hope its not a case of better the devil you know, especially as GH appointment was a leftfield appointment. I pray that in 48 hours time or so our new man isn't McClaren or someone of that kind.

If its true that Ancelotti wants to stay in England, and Chelsea have allowed him to manage straight away, then i cant see no reason why not to go for him and Wilkins as the dream ticket. UPV.

If it is more than 100,000 to 1 I'll put a £10 on it.

I'd be mightily peed off - but at least I could give up work !

40/1 Bet365 25/1 Bet Fred 20/1 Paddy Power

33/1 now on Bet365.

What have you done?

Not a chance it will be McCallister, he wasn't even Gerard's first choice.

Just for the record, when I said I'd like to see a Dutchman in charge of the Villa, I wasn't including Steve McClaren as part of that list.

Benitez is the glamour appointment. but might be a bit prickly for Randy.

Ancellotti has glamour too, and is less likely to rock the boat, but would I suspect prefer to stay in London.

Hughes is the "home banker"

McClaren is a name I have heard from numerous informed sources.

Roeder/McAllister is the "economy" option.

There's something I don't like about the man, there's a touch of Neil Lennon about him.

There are better managers out there.

I think it will be Hughes- he can walk out of fulham on June 1st as can all his staff due to a clause in his contract and I'm sure he would see villa as a big step up from fulham- I expect a quick appointment this time .

McClaren stinks of John Gregory's appointment.  Cheap and unninspiring.

I don't dislike the Hughes that much. Not sure that Ancelotti really is an option tbh. It would be great if it would. Depends whether we want results the Mourinho style: ie not attractive football with loads of money spent or you go for nice football on a budget - Martinez anyone?

I am surprised people think hughes is more a probably option than Moyes.

I think out of the two Moyes is the more attainable, it is known he is unhappy Everton have told him he has to sell to buy (and they hardly have any players to sell in the first place) , he has shown he is loyal (a fact Randy seems to like) where-as Hughes has gone from Wales - Blackburn - Man city - Fulham in about 4 years , Moyes shows he can shop on a budget (Cahill, Arteta, Howard) and also his big signings are successful (Yakubu (at start) fellaini. What money he has he rarely wastes, whereas Hughes is very MON like

All over, I think Randy would go for Moyes anyday, and I think Moyes would come easier than Hughes

The big block for me with Moyes is that at this moment, he is probably third choice behind Mourinho and Guardliola for the Man U job when Fergie goes - would he risk that by coming the Villa ?

Lol.... love it. Schteve would lurve the job.

Can't believe any club in England with ambition would not approach Ancelotti after he stated his desire to stay in the Premier league.
