how accurate is mysteryman with his knowledge/info?  A lot of people seem to believe what he has said?  Just wondering if I have missed something in the past......

He is usually very reliable.  As with any ITK, things can change, particularly with transfer targets etc but he as reliable as any I've read, either from H&V or when over on Villatalk.

Does anyone still think this is all smoke and mirrors?  I wonder if Mark Hughes's demands are too high for Villa and they are trying to play a clever game to get Hughes to back down a little. Maybe he has declared to Randy that he wants the Villa job but is asking for soemthing Villa can't deliver?

Or, are we really struggling to attract anyone half decent to take the job?

Definately a smokescreen mate!  It will be Hughes or Moyes for the job.
I would be very surprised if this wasn't the case.Hughes being the most likely.

I've recieved private messages from the general and pelty in the past but would  never dream of making them public - was this a private message the general posted that the press have published?

FWIW The General's supposed Facebook rant is now in print on the back page of the Express & Star.

If it is his account, it shows that this stuff about "we never talk to the press" is a bit silly if we're letting stuff like that find its way into the media.

I doubt it was really him, though.
I wonder if they checked with the General to see if it was genuine.
If not they could be made to look really stupid in the coming hours if the General denies it.

If I had the time I would of gone through a bunch of the General's old posts to see if one has just been altered by some clever dick with some name substitutions to keep his syntax intact.  I'm sure someone else is more OCD than me to do a CSI style forensic analysis.

You could see the backroom staff being an issue, new man would want his own but we would not want to get rid of the people that have done such a good job with the kids.

Sounds logical

Who has he predicted as being the next manager?  He probably has mentioned somehwere during this topic but there are that many pages that I can be arsed trawling through all  :-[

I agree.  That doesn't mean that everyone approached or that we ask permission to speak to is number 1 target and gonna get offered the job, just that they are being considered and we would like to include them within the process.

Agreed John. I think we are interested and it's not going to be because we want to deflect attention away from Moyes or Hughes.

I would like to think that we are still working on our Number 1 target, and that we would be foolish not to be lining up contingency plans just in case the protracted negotiations that we have been involved in for the last week break down.

Of course the board might not have any fucking clue at all and are just going to appoint AM.
