Oh come on. There wouldn't be a press conference for the manager of a middling club signing a contract.
It would have less exposure than the announcement that Creme Brulee were reforming.

Creme Brulee are reforming! Fuck me! Great news at last.
They've remastered 'Voodoo Lady' as well.

Oh yeah. Back in 81. Heats. Same year as Bucks Fizz. I remember saying to Jay Aston just before we went on : "This is where you shit yourself isn't it, Jay?" We had a right laugh about it. Eh, what do you think of that Gina G, Shack?

I dont miss it though, Horrible business.... glad I got out when I did.....

1981? Wasn't that when we almost signed for Pickwick?

Its a shit business.

Patch is writing again

Just wait til you hear "Jamaica Ginger cake"......

I very doubt that the Villa job is held in anything but high regard by those that matter. If gullible imbeciles who labour over every word the likes of SSN, Talksport and the myriad shit journalists that make up our terrible press were the the opinions that mattered we would be in trouble.
But they dont and we arent.

Just woke up. Has there been any activity with regards to the manager's position? Who is the favourite today?

I agree with you it just pisses me off that we seem to hold us in such low regard? The fact that we ended up with GH last time is surely an indication of this? Even when Doug was in charge the Villa job was held in high regard, we were always seen as the 'Sleeping giant'.

In Doug's time you could take a club like ours and actually achieve something.  These days unless you're one of the media darlings or have a few billion oil barrels behind you, you are always going to be considered amongst the also rans.

I'm just not convinced that Moyes is our man. I've always believed it takes a few years to develop a good football team, into a successful one. It is no coincidence that SAF and Wenger are the longest serving PL managers and the most successful, who's next? I just think he should have achieved more, in his time at Everton.
An ambitious manager like Mark Hughes would suit us well. He is young enough and driven, i also think he would have a point to prove. He worked under SAF, so would bring a lot of tried and tested methods, he will bring stability, he is an experienced PL manager, he can motivate teams. Just my opinion but Moyes just doesn't seem to match us as well as Hughes would.

I wouldn't mind either to be honest with you.  I still think David Moyes has a lot to prove as well.  I think he has got comfortable at Everton and to a certain extent, untouchable?  My preference would be either one of the 2 out of all the names being flaunted about.

There will be at least 12 different favourites today, it's currently Benny from Crossroads.

Having spoken to an impectable source - I believe David Moyes will not be going to Aston Villa as manager.

If it's meant to be hush hush from Aston Villa and Everton would these Journos have a chance of finding out?

Maybe he isn't coming...Will see at 2pm when Everton do the presser.

I think that Moyes and Hughes are much of a muchness...  capable British managers who can do a job, the ceiling of which will be budget related. They will attract a certain standard of player who will do a job for us
I would just love a spark of excitement tho.. the thought that anything is possible. Maybe a Rijkaard or a reincarnated BFR   just someone to light the fire and to reignite the passion at Villa Park

Nothing has happened.  McLeish and Moyes are currently the favourites, I think.
