He actually played a blinder last Sunday, was their best player by a mile.

They still lost though, you might have read about it ;)

Releasing Reo-Coker is an absolute crying shame.  The only one i'm absolutely gutted about.  Carew is a cult hero for the rest of my life but his time is done and it's time to go.  Reo had more to offer and to loose him now when he still had something left in the locker is a crime.

Don't follow the blose at all i'm afraid. They really are a bit irrelevant to me. Still trying to think where i was the week he joined them. I remember him coming back from loan but thats about it. Altziemers i reckon :0)

I recognise that affinity for the club comes before affinity for the player, and this may well be a small matter in the grander scheme of things, but I'm so very very disappointed in everybody at Villa - starting with the present management - for letting go of Nigel Reo-Coker.

Shame on you, Houllier - and shame on you Aston Villa - for letting go of one of the few players who gave a shit this season.

It scares me sometimes how little love I have left for AVFC as an institution, but if Houllier is allowed to continue on as manager - in which case there's nothing being done to stem the inevitable slide of this great club into total irrelevance in the footballing world - then the future is not bright, it's dull at best, and I won't be the mug that wastes any more of his money on unappreciative jerks like Downing and Young while unappreciated and hungry players like Reo-Coker are put on a shelf to rot and then released for nothing when they've worked hard to earn their place in the squad. There, I've said it.

The slate is being cleared for a reason and under instruction.

There's going to be a blank canvas and a big war-chest for *****. Add some talented youth who are keen to impress and it's a new manager's dream start. Especially one who has many European contacts.

Are you suggesting that a new manager has already been lined up? I thought that GH had some final medical tests yesterday, and that a decision on whether or not he'll continue would be made early next week.

Put on a shelf to rot? He's played virtually every game under Houllier.

He won't be coming back as manager for next season. There may be a period of hand-over but that's all.

Ok, but even so, I'd thought that the board wouldn't approach potential successors before GH leaving was official.

The possibility exists that it is official internally, with Gezza OK about everything, and they're just waiting for the right time to announce it.

Crikey. That sounds quite exciting! I'm not sure about *****, though. I mean, what's he ever won, eh?

No contract for NRC. Unbelievable that we are releasing a player who never let's us down and was mainly responsible for our last two big wins and MotM IMO against Liverpool.
