Is he leaving for sure? I love the attempted penalty, I think they were winning easily so it didn't matter but I could be mistaken.

I would have thought so...

Pires - Villa lacked respect
Veteran upset at not getting more game time for Midlanders
French veteran Robert Pires has hit out at a perceived lack of respect during his spell at Aston Villa.

The 37-year-old joined Villa on a six-month deal in November after leaving Villarreal, but he made just 12 appearances for the club.

The French winger was left frustrated by his lack of first-team action and has branded his stay at the club as a 'failure'.

"When I look back, I am extremely disappointed," he told The Express and Star.

"I knew I wasn't going to be a guaranteed starter but I would have liked to have been used a bit more.

"During the match at Arsenal, we were winning 2-0 and I thought Gary McAllister was going to put me on. It was at that moment I said to myself there was a lack of respect.

"My experience at Villa has been a failure."

Don't diss uncle bob. In a season of very little cheer his comedy turns have been a welcome throwback to a simpler time of jumpers for goalposts, standing on terraces and the 3 day week.. I was going to invest in a black and white tv to get the full effect if he'd stayed

Lack of respect? You have to earn respect.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out....

"Lack of respect" for not giving him a run out against his old club?

Cheeky bastard.

So all the other times he was either on the bench or not even in the squad, he was OK with that.

But not being allowed to trot out for a few minutes at the Emirates and get a round of applause from the gooners was a lack of respect. Self centred, much?

If I had to give a textbook example of a lack of respect, it might include a footballer making those kind of comments about a club that has paid him handsomely for the past few months. Despite getting very little in return.
