Just read that supposedly he wants £80k a week, and his agent is claiming that is what he has been offered elsewhere!!

Personally I would not give him £20k a week!

£ 80,000 a week. Thats hillarious.
Best of luck Nigel.

It's obviously bollocks. I think he's on £30k atm. I'd offer him £40k and sell him in January, providing we can get somebody better in. Makoun can't tackle, Delph is still untried and Petrov a year older. At least we'd get some money in.

He hasn't let us down but his quick departure down tunnel at final whistle might suggest
he is moving on -

Does anyone know how things work when players are on a Bosman? Does the player in effect receive the equivalent of his transfer value that would normally be paid to a club?

So would NRC be expecting to get £6M...ish + his normal wages if he joins another club.

They are free to negotiate whatever they can get including a signing on fee, it wont be £6 mil.I doubt if he will get a bigger club than us, Everton Fulham type deal.

Looks like I'm in a minority, but I'd be very happy for him to stay.  I've obviously missed something if Merv thinks he's been one of our worst players this season - I actually think he's been better than the majority of our squad when given the chance.  Are the same people that slated GMac for taking NRC off last weekend now happy to frogmarch him out the door?

Wages issue aside given that none of us really know, I think is a valuable player to us and brings a bit of maturity to the squad.  As for a new contract, surely the uncertainty over our league status is having some bearing on any delay?

Go back and read the whole of that post of mine, and the subsequent others from me, and I hope you'll notice that was a ridiculously obviously sarcastic comment! It was in response to the opinions of those who don't seem to have taken his performances this season into account - one of more committed and consistent players.

I'd keep him. Thought I'd made that massively clear.

Apologies Merv, I misread (or didn't read) the full post.  So that's three of us in the "keep" camp then.

Seven.

But I'd stop short of giving him an increase in wages, signing on fee fair enough.
