Stuart (no song) Downing has been absolutely immense this season - a season when mediocrity would have been a 'nice to have'.

Downing has been greatly improved this season (not hard compared to last) but calling him immense???

What I love about Downing iswhen he picks up the ball and charges up field. Absolutely superb, he really drives the attack. The problem is he still can't consistantly cross the ball. If he could he'd be PLayer of the Year not just at the Villa but for every national player award. I still think we've got more to see from him which is why I really hope we keep him.

Ashley has more talent but needs a manager/coach to bring him down to earth and get him doing what he does best. If he does go elsewhere, you can bet that's exactly what his new boss will do and he'll look like bargain of the century.
