Charity bike ride reaches Villa Park
« on: April 19, 2011, 09:47:34 PM »
You may have heard about the cycle marathon currently being undertaken by former Arsenal and Scotland goalkeeper turned TV presenter Bob Wilson, in aid of the Willow Foundation which helps improve the lives of seriously ill young people throughout the UK.

After starting on Monday, and continuing until Friday 29th April, Bob is taking part in a tour which will see him riding to every Premier League ground before finishing at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Accompanied by his colleagues, former teacher Steve Cliffen and 78 year old ex-British international cyclist David Tweddell, Bob’s trek sees him riding through the West Midlands this Thursday. The group are scheduled to be at St Andrew’s at 10am, Villa Park 11.45, the Hawthorns at 12.45 and finally Molineux at 2.45pm prior to heading towards Stoke for the following morning.

Come along to any of the grounds to give your support to this worthy cause, or donate at www.bobwilsonsoccercycle.com

For more information on the charity, visit www.willowfoundation.org.uk

Lovely man and his autobiography is fascinating - he is not, or was not, your average footballer coming late into the game and being a much more interesting person for it. And of course, the book is also very sad dealing with the death of his daughter. One of the nicest books about a career in football I have ever read...

Top bloke, good for him.  The odd thing is that I was talking about him to an Arsenal fan at work this morning as he didn't believe that his middle name was Primrose.

Proved it through good ol' Wikipedia, the photo on his wiki page is incredibly odd...

I see what you mean about the picture. He appears to be filling up with petrol at ASDA using a self service chip and pin machine.
