Why terminate his contract in January rather than just let Stoke pay his wages for the remaining six months? The net result is the same, with the difference that he can't play against us.

And how on earth has this stayed hush hush until now?

Looks suspiciously like another one in a line of cock ups from the club this season.

Only thing I can think of is that Stoke refused to pay for his wages if they took him on loan.
