His antics (diving and arguing the toss with refs) wind me up no end, but that aside he's a hard working and effective player for us, even if I do think he's been playing for himself more than the team this season.

As long leaves in the right fashion (Milner as opposed to Barry) then I wish him well.

Entertaining.  Crowd puller.  Scores goals.  Has pace.  Tracks back.  Cares about the result.  Always puts 100% in.  Defenders hate him.  I dont want him to go anywhere except with Villa.

If we can get a manager to discipline him, i.e cut out the diving, and a manager that instructs him to play on the left wing then I'd love to keep him.

Maybe I'm dillusioned but I think if we show our statement of intent for next season by getting the right manager in then Ash will be up for staying.

If not, then I wish him well as he's always put a shift in and provided some right moments of magic over the last few seasons.  My personal favourite's being the Everton away 3-2 game and his two stunning goals against SHA in the 5-1

I quite like AY but this season for me he has been Billy Big Bollocks

Add to that list taking every free kick
Hitting Row Z
Beating a man 3 teams
Doesnt score enough goals
Far too petulant

I will in a way be sad to see him go but he is going to get such a rude awakening

cut out the diving?  The last two home games I went to (Wigan and Toon army) where people around me barracked him for "diving", the resulting free kicks were goals.  Bloody hell, tell the opposition to stop fouling him.  Gerard and Ronaldo were constantly revered in the press, yet I would argue are every bit and more dirty than Ash.

Doesn't score enough goals but is our top goalscorer this season...

Anyway, a rude awakening? I'm not so sure. If he gets the right move and the right manager, I think he'll flourish and take his game up a level.

PS MoetVillan - you're right. Great free-kick delivery for Collins' goal; brilliantly-taken free-kick to score v Wigan on Saturday. No-one can get every free-kick spot-on, but there is a reason why Young takes many of the free-kicks in dangerous areas.

Isnt he our top scorer this season?  I do agree he needs his energy channelling, but when he is on his game he is unplayable.  Sort of player that gets bums on seats too.  People buy shirts with Young on, and want to emulate him in the park afterwards.

Not sure.

MON had a similar effect on Barry when he first came, but there's a big difference between Portsmouth and the sort of clubs that will be after Ash!

It's not impossible. It would have to be one hell of a manger though.

I think it would need to be a good enough manager that we'd be saying "Fuck Ashley Young - this bloke will bring better to the club!"

Although not a winger that Mcguigan at Forest can put a decent ball in and has a fantastic shot. Looks a little slow though.

Totally agree. But he will go, and good luck to him when he does. He's contributed more to my matchday enjoyment than most over recent years.
With only a year left on his contract we're not going to get a great deal more than we paid for him though sadly, so getting a decent swap or part-ex seems unlikely too.

I still think he will fetch a good 15-18 million considering his age. I hope he goes to United. Then all is justified, he will win things and probably kick on as a player. Liverpool or Man City and it will be a silly move IMO.

I see him joining Liverpool or, if they sell Bale (which I believe they will), Spurs.

I will wish him all the best as he always gives his all and whilst his petulance has irked me it is probably stretching from his desire to win and the fact that (unlike so many in our team) he cares. Sure, this wishing him all the best may be tinged by a bit of schadenfreude if his move doesn't work out but I think a move to Spurs or Liverpool will work out for him.

As for us, I hope we can hang onto Downing and Albrighton (I think it is pretty certain we will) who will replace his role in the team. In terms of players to sign I'd like to see a winger coming in as cover and competition for Albrighton and Downing. I don't expect us to spend too much on this player as we really have more pressing concerns with the defence.

Ash gives a massive edge and that something extra. His "i am" attitude has been annoying but his work rate has been been excellent. If we were knocking on the door he might of stayed but after this season think his mind is made up. We need a new manager who will bring that "buzz" back to Villa park like MON did. Perhaps that and the reassurance of some "big" signings might just sway him to stay ......
