Ashley Young says he’s fully committed to the club and he’ll talk about his future with Houllier and Lerner at the end of the season #avfc

Maybe, if the rumours about a signing being shown round yesterday are true, and Ashley see that players are being brought in early, he might decide to stay.  Playing at club level with the England centre forward will assist his future no doubt, as would having Downing a regular in the England team.  (I'm saying this well aware that the media have now anointed Carroll as the long term answer to all Englands needs for a No.9!!!!)

Neighbour of mine works for the police said that when he drove past Young's house other day a 'For Sale' board was up. No reason to disbelieve this info as he's a genuine guy so make of it what you will.

Whoever he is joining, you can bet that the deal was done months ago.

Bairstow Eves? Barnard Marcus? cubitt 7 west? You're right though the contracts have probably been exchanged already.

Perhaps he has, but the house he owns in B'ham is up for sale.

Seems a bit odd that such a high profile footballer who is constantly in the news re imminent transfer would put a For Sale board up for all to see

His house is for sale, I know it to be true. But whatever happens he's about to sign his biggest ever contract; he's only got a year left so should he stay or leave he's going to get a massive signing on bonus. I wouldn't look into the for sale signs too much.

However, he is off.

His house has been for sale for ages.

I heard he'd bought a new pad months ago. May even have been last summer.

I'd hold no grudges if he left this summer or next but I'd prefer he went earlier, as I'm sure most others would be. I'd be amazed if we got anywhere near the amounts that have been banded around in this thread so far, though.  I'd say Liverpool for 12M would be a realistic bet but a swap deal with Spurs involving cash plus Walker would be my ideal choice.
