Stunning goal and a day i'll never forget, can remember going in at half-time 4-1 up and thinking we'd ease off in the second half but the lads came back out and carried on going for the jugular. I've still got this match on VHS somewhere called The Magnificent Seven.

I notice theres lots more classic early 90s Villa goals on this website.

I remember spending the afternoon in a pub in Sutton instead of going to the game. So sure was I, that this was going to be a 0-0 draw.

Great game, I was in the upper holte and knew it was in as soon as he hit it, lots of empty seats though.

That was the first home game I had missed for years as I had a savage bout of flu and literally couldnt get out of bed. I remember the missus telling me the score and wondering if I was hallucinating

I broke a golden rule and took a girl to the match, such was my infatuation. I have misty eyed memories of getting seven precious hugs, and for this I will always be gratefull to Aston Villa.

...is nobody else going to ask him "did he smash it"? The Left Side is clearly a more sensitive poster than me. I bet he reads Mills & Boon.

Did I bollocks. It was an on/off, sliding doors style bad timing sort of disaster that I seem to specialise in.

Ah the days of BFRR and early Little era and having at least one contender for goal of the month every month on MOTD. It was unfortunate that Saunders pre- Beckham lob (and much superior in technique and GK position) against Ipswich was overshadowed by tremendous team goal in the same match which won the monthly award.
