I wonder what sentences the three Pakistan cricketers will get. I imagine that Aamir will get less, due to his admission of guilt and plausible naivity. All this corruption really pisses me off.

Butt should be sent down for 12 months. Asif 12 months suspended. Aamer fined. However as they are foreign citizens can they be imprisioned or will they be deported straight after sentencing?

Surely they will be given a council house, a car and free food for a year?

Well the fixer Majeed's Lawyer is certainly suggesting a lot of other players are involved.

Whatever the outcome of this Mohammed Asif should never play cricket again, he has tested positive for steroids on 2 occasions, caught in possession once & now spot fixing. How much wrong does one have to do before the authorities say enough is enough.

They are and it's such a shame that a lot of them seemed to be flawed characters, because Amir for example is a remarkable talent.

Sentnces passed:

Majeed (agent) 32 months
Salman Butt  30 months
Mohammed Asif 12 months
Mohammed Amir 6 months

I'd have liked to have seen harsher sentences but I guess that they are within sentencing guidelines.

To be honest those are worse sentences than I thought they'd get. That is certainly a strong deterrent.

It's ironic that the British Judiciary has done the ICC's job for them.

Question is now how do we prevent an repeat?

The ICC must toughen up and the Pakistani board pay their players a decent salary. As I understand it their players are amongst the poorest paid in world cricket. It's hardly surprising that players heads are turned by, what must be for them, astronomical sums of money.

Agreed. There are plenty of cheats in sport but, as sure as night follows day, you can guarantee a whole host of controversy every time we play them.
