Ok, thanks.   But my question remains, WHY? 

What happened to the ususal cycle?   Is it purely for money, is there some other reason I'm missing.

Not sure why they're doing it this way but I agree that back to back Ashes series and then another 18 months later is overkill.  Will that mean we have 10 Ashes Test matches within 6 months?

One of the things that makes Ashes Cricket so great is that it's only played every few years - the anticipation can build - why they'd want to change this I don't know - apart from the $$$ ofcourse.

Then again there is a train of thought that says that the better and more comitted to Test Cricket sides should play each other more often. At least we know the Aussies will give us a game, once India gave up this summer it was good fun to see us go to No.1 in the rankings but hardly absorbing cricket.

I think it is because the Aussie leg of the Ashes is usually held just before a World Cup and they don't like it overshadowing the One Day game.

Dernbach is a brilliant bowler in this form of the game, varying his bowling from 92 to 72 MPH without any discernible difference in his action, marvellous.

it is annoying not to have an Ashes test at Edgbaston in 2013, but they haven't done too badly out of the match allocation for 2012 - 2014:

It's good to see a few ODI's at Edgbaston, we seem to have missed out on ODI's lately. The semi final of the world test championship should be good too, and it could be England - Australia.

The decision appears from the outside as being about money, but it was at the ECB's request and is aimed at  giving us as good a shot as possible at winning the 2015 world cup.

Where are England touring this winter?

There are 5 ODI's in India in October followed by tests and ODI's against Pakistan in Jan/Feb. These are played in the UAE. There are also a couple of tests in Sri Lanka in late March/early April.

The West Indies and South Africa are here for tests and ODI's next summer as are the Aussies for an ODI series.

Can't wait!
