Seems the appeal has been withdrawn, or at least the dismissal has been rescinded.

If that's MS Dhoni's decision then that's great and to his credit.  If the umpires have decided they can't give it out, then I can understand that too.

Looks like he's withdrawn that appeal.

Strange goings on, really. Probably for the best, but I still think Bell can consider himself fortunate; he made a mistake and was, perfectly legally, punished.

Absolutely fair play to India.  Well done indeed.

Another point is that is does seem rather silly that there wasn't an announcement made to the crowd during tea, would have done away with the booing and my emotional ramblings.

The thing is though, that the crowd doesn't look to have been informed at any stage.  Either when he was initially given out or why, and they weren't informed that Dhoni had taken the appeal back.  If they had been, the Indians would have been met with cheers.

Well quite, but some of the crowd had assumed the worst without any hard info.  Which is what made them look foolish.

As to the dismissal itself, I rather think Asad Rauf believed it was over; Bell clearly though Rauf had called over.  We can't be certain of that but given the uncertainty, and given the effect it might have had on relations between the two sides, I think the umpires and the skippers got together at tea and agreed not to give Bell out.

Very sensible, good for the game and the series.

I disagree. The Umpires acted by the letter of the law and Bell was careless. Dhoni comes out of this with a lot of credit and deserves praise for acting in the spirit of the game.

Yeah fair point.  Its not often you see a cricket crowd like that though, and its quite funny to see the reaction change so quickly.
