If we were going up and coming, I'd say Simon Grayson but the safe option is Jol.

Tony - surely you don't seriously  think mourinho would come here ?

Moyes would only come if we avoid relegation. In some ways it would be easier taking on a bottom 6 team left by houllier than taking over a top 6 team left my mon- the expectations wouldn't be so great and a top 10 position next year could be counted as progress.

If Houllier gets the chop in the summer, I would bet my boots that Moyes will get the job.

Will Moyes consider dropping down a division, as I've a feeling that there'll only be a vacancy if we get relegated?

He likes a challenge and Balti pies are a great lure.

What's with all the bias against the English managers?

It's like the England job all over.

People write off the likes of Allardyce and Curbishley but why?

They've done more than Coyle, Hughton, Lambert, Poyet etc.

Personally I don't want another foreign manager after the Houllier debacle.

I think the next manager should be British.

I don't think that a British manager would have disrespected the club in the same way that Houllier has.

So even though they seem to be unpopular (because they're English?), I'd be happy with Allardyce, Curbishley, McClaren, Hughes (I know he's Welsh) etc.

I feel that English managers should be given a chance at the bigger clubs (of which we are one) as they are always disregarded for foreign managers - Jol, Van Gaal, Riijkard, Ranieri etc.

Theyve only done more because they've been managers for longer. Lambert is on the verge of two back to back promotions, playing great football,he's a european cup winner as well.

Allardyce style of football is even worse than M'ON,did you see Blackburn this season?

Allardyce says he has only played direct football because of the clubs he has been at and the resources he has had at his disposal.

You don't know for certain that he would play the same way with the quality of players he would have had Villa.

O'Neill for me, should never have allowed the relationship with him to have soured to the point that it did.

Thats true, but the football he played at Newcastle was a bit ropey. Coyle plays better football at Bolton than Big Sam or Megson ever did.

It has to be the special one.   Throw lots of cash at the man.
Anyone who calls Mourinho that in a serious tone of voice deserves to be strung up by their knackers.

Would like to see Jol in, but Coyle is a good shout, too.

According to the odds at Sky Bet, favourites for being the next permanent Villa manager are Sam Allardyce and Rafa Benitez.
